Hello there

Hi Jenn
Thanks for your reply. The BLAKEMORE's actually moved to NSW and had five more children born in Newcastle. The two eldest, John and Mary, were born in Gloucestershire.
I have John, Maria and eldest son John on the 1861 at East Dean, Gloucs then we know Mary was born in 1864 in Gloucs (she married into a branch of my BULLERWELL family who also emigrated from England) then the family arrives in NSW and has five more children - Jessie 1868, Harriet 1870, Daniel 1873, Louise 1874, and Thomas 1877.
The reference supplied for the assisted immigrants to South Australia was found while googling for Blakemore and passenger lists and as the details matched, ages and names for John, Maria, John Jnr and Mary, and it was supplied by a lady researching emigrants from Gloucestershire to Australia, I was hoping someone would be able to supply details. Even though they arrived via SA it looks like this is the right family. :)
Thanks for your interest.

My gran born 9 may 1921 passed 2 years ago, she always told me she came from london to SA when she was 16, I checked the internet and found her leaving the UK to cape in 1937 (edwina lucy Blakemore) with her mom or aunt (Kate Blakemore born 1884) problem is the UK can't find her place of birth. So I'm looking for any leads to where kate and or Edwina were actually born.

Hi Ursula,
Welcome to rootschat :)
This thread is on the Australia board so SA stands for South Australia. I'm guessing you googled the name and assumed SA was South Africa ...?
Or maybe I am confused and they did come to Australia ?
regards,
Ros
