I am looking for anyone who may have previously looked up information on the Collis family, who seem to be from the Newmarket area of Cambridgeshire.
I, so far can only trace my GG Grandfather Henry Collis for certain, as far back as the 1851 census, but the trail goes cold before then.
He married on the 14th of November 1853, at Holy Trinity in Ely, and on the certificate he is called a minor, his father on the form is a James Collis, but so far, a James Collis, with a son Henry cant be found in 1841.
If anyone has any info on the Collis family, or is planning a parish lookup in Cambridgeshire, any info you could supply would be most welcome.

Not sure if you mean Mills or Collis but found this in 1841.

I know this is six years late...
Henry was born to James Collis and Sarah Whymer, Sarah died in newmarket All Saints in 1840.
James was James Brown Collis born to Henry Collis and Elizabeth Brown, he was baptised in isleham 20 Oct 1796.
Henry's father was James Collis, birth time and place unknown, he married Katherine Lane 15 Apr 1745 in Fordham, Cam and died 4 years later, Henry was put as an apprentice to a jockey in Newmarket in 1765 until he was 24. He married Grace Cook 1786 in Fordham.
James and Katherine had another son, John, who was indented to the same jockey at the same time. Their other son James is my 5x gt grandfather.

Not sure if this helps - Robert Ludkin married Elizabeth Collis on 5 August 1845 in Fordham. The witnesses were John Ludkin and Mary Ann Collis.
They had five children.
Robert Ludkin married again in 1880, so presumably Elizabeth had died by then.
I am descended from Robert's sister Mary Ann Ludkin.
