i have just found that for the last couple of years i have been looking for this person in dunbarton when it should have been dunbar, so if anyone can help i would love to find the birth of JOSEPH HILL born dunbar 1814, later moved to southampton where he served as a customs officer, any information on james & his family in dunbar would be very much appreciated, thank you in advance, kali.

Which one do you mean - Joseph or James?

I have found a James Hill baptised in Dunbar in 1810, parents James Hill and Helen Cawsey.  No other children for them in the records.

Very few Hill baptisms in Dunbar, actually  :(

sorry nell, it is joseph hill birth i am looking for, thanks for your interest,  in 1861 census he was living in milbrook southampton and his birthplace is given as dunbar, thanks again, kali.
