would anyone have any information about the( mcclinton) (mcclintock) (mclintock) family different spellings for last name
my great great grandmother before she married my gggrandfather joesph brown
her name was elizabeth mcclinton she was born 11/11/1862 in TONNACHRAE
she married my gggrandfather joseph brown in 14/04/1882 in maybole
but i dont know when she died at all i cant find anything about her death at all
i have elizabeth getting re married again to a peter mcpherson or(mac)on the 4/12/1896 in glasgow. but i still cant find a death certificate for her at all.
so her name could be= elizabeth mclintock brown mcpherson
her father and mother are william mcclinton and agnes mcclinton m.s bruce they got married 31/01/1861 mark; parish of inch
i am looking for anything i can get on the whole family there last name changed sometimes as well from mcclinton or mclintock
joseph died age 39 in 13/02/1893 so elizabeth would have been age 30 at that time when her husband died. elizabeth keeps changing her age as she goes along
elizabeth & peter mcpherson moved to canada in 1907
we have them on the 1911 census in canada and there son peter going into the canada army 1918
that is why we cant get her death certificate or anything about there children

Had a look on ScotlandsPeople for Elizabeth's death, with wildcards and everything. There is a female death of a McPherson (other surnames: McClinton) in Ayr in 1951, is that possible? The first name is not Elizabeth and the age is out by seven years (this person is b. 1869) but I say it's possible, especially if she was known under a different name. :)
Added: It's a Margaret McPerson, so perhaps not as likely now. :( There is also Elizabeth McPherson (other surnames: Brown) in St Andrew, Edinburgh. She died in 1937, born 1861.

Hi,
Thank you,my Elizabeth was born 1847 thats all I know about her,Grace and Hannah Twins born 3rd Oct.1847 are my interest as Grace married Thomas Spence, and their son THomas was my Grandfather.Hannah married James Ambers but I now believe this to be Ambrose.(They did it just to confuse us I am sure) I would like to know more about this family if anyone can though.

william, sorry to hear that you are disappointed with the search results so far, did you notice that i found your agnes with her parents on the 1861 census?
i only have access to the earlier censuses so i could not help you out with later ones. maybe a visit to the scotlandspeople website would answer a few unanswered questions for you.
in the meantime i wonder if this is your agnes?

I have identified WILLIAM McLINTOCK and AGNES BRUCE as my GREAT GRANDPARENTS. This I ACHEIVE AFTER SOME INVESTIGATION AS ALL I COULD FIND AT ONE TIME THAT MY GRANDFATHER WILLIAM MARRIED MY GRANDMOTHER SARAH IN1887 IN GLASGOW AND HE WAS A WIDOWER AT THAT TIME AND CANNOT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT HIS PREVIOUS MARRIAGE,MY FATHER ALSO CALLED WILLIAM WAS BORN IN GLASGOW IN 1902. MY GRANDMOTHER DIED IN THE FLU EPIDEMIC OF 1918. RESULTING INQUIRIES SHOW THAT MY GRAND FATHER HAD THREE BROTHERS AND THEY ARE AS FOLLOW
THOMAS BORN 14/3/65
(WILLIAM BORN 14/4/67(went to CANADA IN 1926))
JOHN BORN 11/9/73
ANDREW BRACENBRIDGE BORN 7/8/78
THEY WERE ALL BORN IN MAYBOLE. I hope this will help you

i have been trying to trace the rest of my greatgrandfather's family .
All I have got is that is the 4 sons(which includes my grandfather) and 2 daughters but I believe there is two more in the family. Also I have found that my grandfather when he married my grandmother in 1897 he was a widower, and I know nothing about his previous marraige and have found nothing todate.
.

Hello again
I have a query regarding your grandfather - he was born in 1867 - in 1887 he would have been only 20 - hardly time to become a widower. My info shows him to have married twice but to two Margarets in the 1890's. As this is not my direct line I may be mistaken but I think you should also check your facts.
Your g.grandfather William = Agnes Bruce 31/01/1861 at Inch is the brother of our g.grandfather Richard McClinton, born to Thomas = Martha Jolly in 1845 at Dunragit. Richard names one of his daughters Agnes Bruce - Richard was the bellman at Kilmaurs and died in 1922.

I am looking for a Margaret Fitzsummons birth she married a Hugh Love in Girvan 1835, I saw you had a post a while back about a
James Fitzsummons who married aMargaret Caskie in Girvan 1849. do you know anything about this James? this is my first time
on this so I hopre I am doing it right. I also remember McLINTOCKS in Larkhall he was a minister and I am sure he was a relation
of my grandfather I played with their son Freddie there were also LYNCH'S there as well
-
hi well my james fitzsimmons was married to margaret caskie or mccaskie 07/10/1849 and they had 1 daughter and she married a mclintock i dont know much about .james fitzsimmons at all.i think he was born 1824 and died looking from 1929 down the way because he is dead on his daughters marriage cert. i cant find a birth or death for him at all but still looking. i dont know what happend between him and margaret caskie as she went on to get married to my gggrandfather joseph brown 24/02/1851. both times she married in girvan scotland. so margarets daughter to james was maggie or margaret born 1849 married richard mcclintock 16/11/1869 she died 13/06/1929. so richard parents where william mcclintock & agnes bruce..so when margaret was married to joseph brown 1 of there sons also called joseph he married elizabeth mcclintock.and they had 1 son william brown he got killed in the first war. but when joseph died she got married 3 years later to peter mcpherson and she had 3 kids with him.and they moved to canada 1907 and are still there to this day
-
There were Bruce's in Larkhall as well my grampa knew them they lived in Machan Road the McLINTOCKS lived in the Manse on Machan road the Lynch's lived in Quarry Street where we lived they had tomato houses did you come across any Loves in your tree
-
i am a brown and i have never found anyone with that name at all
all i have are brown..murray..mcnichol..mckenzie..mclintock..caskie..mcpherson..bruce.mclaren.whiteside..fitszimmons
-
Hi, sorry I am new to this, but I thought that your James could have been a brother to my Margaret, and when you mentioned all the other names I had heard of them the Loves in Girvan were weavers who moved to AIRDRIE LANARKSHIRE to become miners
a lot of the Ayrshire people moved there about that time there was more money in the mines a lot then moved to Larkhall also
to the mines, so that is why I mentioned the names this generation was in my time so if they are in your line it would be this generation of them.
I also found this today JAMES FITZSUMMONS married a MARGARET BROWN in MOCHRUM, WIGTOWN,SCOTLAND
they had a child JOHN born 1858, This could possibly be the same James as Maggies father.
and maybe a relative of Joseph Brown, Girvan and Wigton are very small places everybody would
know each other.
What do you think ?
-
the mclintock and caskie both stayed in maybole.govan. i think all of them followed each other about the places. my family starts for me with robert brown married esther and they had 7 kids and where all born slacks grove monaghan ireland. so 1 of there sons joseph brown married margaret caskie and they had 5 kids and 1 of there sons joseph brown married elizabeth mclintock and they had 1 child. william brown he married mary carruth buchanan and they had 6 kids and 1 of there sons was william brown who was my grandfather
so before margaret caskie married joseph brown she was married to james fitszimmons and they had 1 daughter maggie fitszimmons who married richard mclintock.so richard mclintock was elizabeth mclintock fathers brother or son.so anyway on a census i have william is staying with the mclintock age 15 and maggie is with them as well.
robert brown moved to usa but i dont think all his family went as well as joseph brown married in girvan to margaret caskie. another 1 of his sons married in ireland. and 1 daughter married in the usa. and i have all her family right up to the present day.

Hello, I just read your post mentioning Machan Road. Could you tell me where this is? I am looking for a link to my Maternal G-G-Grandmother Grace Machan whose family was apparently very well-to-do. I was wondering if this road was named after this wealthy family at the time. Her family would have been in the UK (Bourstwick, Yorkshire) around 1812 but the family may have come from Ireland...I have no clue...
Thanks!
