Hi Karen,
Have pm'd you.
Thanks for this info., I always worry, when there is a name and no other info., if this person died. ( He is the grandson of Prudence ) Happily Cornelius did not.
Married by Washington and witnesses, Washington, family of the official ?
Many thanks, much appreciated.

You can see the 1901 census indexed at www.automatedgenealogy.com, they are in Oshawa
By that point alone in the household, but George is listed as emigrating 1844 and Phillipa as emigrating 1839, did they marry in Canada then?
Also in 1901 in Oshawa are Thomas Hastings and wife 'Charlott F', along with son Wallace.
Have you seen the 1881 census? Richard, Emma, Charlotte and Cornelius are all in the household, but so is a Flora Wheeler, aged 4 - another child of theirs, or a niece perhaps?
I also think I've found the Washingtons in 1881 - living in Prince Edward county, Ontario, William Washington, methodist minister, with wife Catherine and daughters Edith E and Ethel A (also other children).
http://genforum.genealogy.com/gilbey/messages/2.html - something interesting about Emma! Says her and Cornelus are buried in Alberta, also.
This is very bizarre though - I looked for Emma in 1881, and found a possible - a widowed Emma 'Patula' (could be the 'Patnoe' of the message, badly indexed), with a young son George, but the family she's living with include John and Emma Inch.
In 1901, 'Con Wheeler' and wife (indexed as 'Emmas' for some bizarre reason) and children are in Alberta.

Hi Jorose,
Brilliant thank you, I will study this later, I have unexpected guests coming and have to get their room ready, first.
I have seen the name PATULa before somewhere, on a census I think.
John and Emma Inch, could be her uncle and aunt.
Thank you very much, i appreciate your help. junket

Hi Jorose, / Karen / everyone,,
I have found the names PATULA, they are on the 1861 census apparently. I have found a note about them, (but no indication of who they are , or how they fit into the family)
John Inch 46
Emma Inch 45
Emma PATULaA widow 24, born England
Julia PATULA 20 born Ontario
George PATULa, born Jan 3/12
In OShawa, Ontario S, Ontario, canada.
D 132
SD E
DIV 2
P 39
Household No. 209
Are you able to give me the link, please ?
Porr Emma, a widow at 24, with a young baby and Julia aged 20, no idea where / how she fits in.
I have e-mailed the person on the Gen. forum , but the posting, is an old one, so I do not hold much hope of a reply.
Thanks

It looks as though some "Wheeler's" lived in the Pickering and Ajax area. Here is a site that mentions some in later years.

I wake up and find all of this !!!
Thank you so much Janice and JJ,
I have taken q very qucik look down through, but had to stop and thank you.
I have contact with Kenneth b, he is a 'cousin', in OZ., through the Inch line. His ggg grandfather ( Paul Inch ) and ny gggg grandmother ( Philippa Inch ) were brother and sister. ( there were 12 children in total ........yes 12 Inchs !!!!!!)
I have 14 pages of the descendency of his line, but only 18 lines on the descendency of the Silas Inch ( another of the 12 ) descendency, hence the postings.....I am trying to find with your generous help, more about Silas and his family, in Canada. Philippa is one of his daughters, the Wheeler children, his grandchildren.
I am going to visit the links and search for them now.
A very big thank you, I really appreciate your help and cannot thank you enough.

Meant to post the url for the 1851...Just in case there are others you want to find on it... Only free for a little while longer....Left hot link gives info....right one to the image...You'll need to use some of the info to find the second part of the image....( note that what they call page number is in brackets to take you to personal information, and you need to look at the next number for the detailed census info)

In answer to your question.
The mayor is the leader in most Canadian towns and cities. Some provinces still use the title of "Reeve" for the elected leader of a village, township or a rural municipality. They hold the same type of position as that of "Mayor".

There is a "D. Wheeler" who is involved with Regional Council for Durham Region in the town of Georgina. As Georgina is not that far from Uxbridge, you may want to get in touch with this person to see if they can shed any light on your family. (I would hurry though, the election is on Monday November 13th.)

This may not have anything to do with your family, but I through it in here just in case.

Hi,
Apologies that I am not well versed in this chat system. I am of the patnoe/gilbey line and Have a connection with Cornelius wheeler as well (he was a step ggrandfather), and live in Alberta Canada. I have significant oral history and would be pleased to add clarity where I can.
Warm regards,

Now you have 3 posts you can send a personal message to junket by clicking on her avatar - on the next screen click send pm - this brings up the message screen where you can send your message and have your private conversation. Unfortunately Sue has not been back on line sine 2011 and only has 1 post so you wouldn't be able to contact her.
Hope this helps a little
