Hi
I've been trying to find a death date for Adam Thomson Wilson. He married my G G Aunt Frances Theresa (Treasa) Fowler on 31 July 1918 at St James Church (RC), Innerleithen. Adam was illigitimate born on 1 May 1884 in Innerleithen (mother, Jessie Wilson). Treasa died on 13 October 1921.
His name is on the gravestone of Treasa and her parents but his side of the stone (a large cross in Traquair Church) is weather beaten and I can only make out his name. I have never been able to find a death date for him. I did wonder if he may have gone to war as he would have been in his 30s.
Can anyone help or give any more suggestions? I've searched a couple of times on Scotland's People and at NRH but I'm not sure if I'm totally missing his entry! Let me know of more info is needed.
Many thanks
Sharon

Hi Sharon
This could be him on SP. Have you looked at this entry:
1943 WILSON ADAM THOMSON age 59 @ GEORGE SQUARE EDINBURGH CITY/MIDLOTHIAN GROS Ref: 685/05 1134
Regards.

I'll look into this. I think I may have assumed (wrong I know!) that he stayed in the Borders, basically because of his name being on the headstone.
Thanks for your help.

He could well have died in Edinburgh and then been buried next to Treasa (it's only the next county).
Fingers crossed for you :)

Thanks again. I'm nipping into town tomorrow so depending on time I may pop into Register House in the afternoon (if I've managed to get the Xmas pressies I want and the Winter Wonderland and German market don't keep me away!).

Lucky you being so close. Let me know if it's right one!
If you find it very quickly, you can go straight on to your shopping ;)
Regards.

Oh no. As soon as I'm in that place I can't leave! "I'll just check this person, look up that person" the next thing I know I've been there 8 hours! ::)

Hi again Monica
You were right of course with the correct Adam. Thank you so much. He lived in Yarrow but must have been admitted to the Edinburgh Royal Infirimary. The informant of his death was a "Female Friend" who seems to have lived at the same address.
Another one closed, apart from the curiousity of the "Female Friend"!

That's great Sharon, thanks for the update!

hi
im sure this is nothing to do with your relative, but we have a jessie wilson in our peebleshire family and she has an illigitimate son in 1889. I wonder if it is the same woman (probably not)!

Hi Poppysmum
Adam was born on 1 May 1884, Devon Place, Nicol Street, Innerleithen.
To be honest I've not really looked more into his mother and I don't have a death date for Jessie.
Do you know anything else about your Jessie? Adam appears in the 1891 census as age 6 in Innerleithen.

Good luck looking for your Jessie!
