On the 1881 Census Benjamin's wife is Mary. This marriage is in the right area.

Amending this post. There is another Benjamin Price born at around the same time.
I'm just checking the 1851 again as it doesn't match the 1841. ::)

Hi Again, ;D
just hold on until I check some of this info. I may have confused one of the Benjamin's born at the same time. I'm looking at the 1851 again.

Well, I believe the 1851 census is correct. Benjamin senior must have changed occupation. As you will know the ages are rounded down to the nearest 5 years in 1841. If Benjamin was 24 in 1841 his age would be correct in 1851.
I had posted the wrong family for Benjamin Oliver in 1871 - the mother was Elizabeth, a widow. When I found Benjamin Oliver on the earlier census his mother was Ann. :D
I'm still trying to find him in 1871. ::)

Well, they are not easy to find in 1891! Have you any idea when John Oliver left for NZ?
This is the best match I can see for him. The birthplace given in 1881 is Knighton so it's the same area.

This is the John Price I gave you in 1891. Perhaps you can rule him out, or in ;D -on this,

Looking through what info I have at home the Following may help
You are Benjamin & Mary are the right ones John Oliver was 7 years old in the 1881 census.
I don't know when he arrived in New Zealand, but He married : Florence May Goulds in St Marks Church Rakaia
on the 1/ 7/1912. John was in his late 30s Florence was 18.
John died June 3rd 1955.
I believe he may have worked in OZ before he came to NZ.
;D ;D Cheers GP35

Me again, ;D
It looks as if John left for NZ before 1901 as I haven't managed to find him on the census.
At least you have a time frame for looking at shipping records.
If I can help you with any other lookups for the family feel free to ask. ;D
Regards
Darcy :D

Really enjoying reading these bits about the Price family. I see the most recent post looks like almost 11 years ago! John Oliver is my grandfather. I know he was in NZ in 1911 from NZ Census records but don't know when he left the UK and where he ended up before setting in the Rakaia district in NZ.
