Title: Marriage look-up in St Faith's, Norfolk please
Post by: SueF on Monday 08 January 07 17:26 GMT (UK)
I'm hoping that someone can look in the parish registers St Faith's for two marriages for me. I believe that St Faith's is in/near Drayton, Taverham, Norfolk? Sorry but I don't know the area very well.

They are both for a Sarah Ann Fulcher..

1) 24th May 1847 this was to Edward Parnell. The date is from the IGI and is a submitted entry. Would like to know parents names and witnesses please.

2) Registered in 1856 June Q ( I don't have an exact date for this one) this was a marriage to either Charles Batley Goodson or John Morriss.  Would like to know who Sarah's father was and which man she married.

I'm hoping to find out if these two Sarah Ann Fulcher's are the same. As she dissappeared after the 1851 census and Edward Parnell went on to have more children by another lady. Which means that Sarah could have married for the 2nd time bigamously (sp?).

Thankyou for reading! Hoping that someone can help.

Regards,
Sue

Thankyou very much Ray.

Edward Parnell was my 2x Gt grandfather. He married Sarah Ann Fulcher 1847 but by 1851 census he was living with his 'housekeeper' Ann Davy who he also had children with. It seems he didn't marry Ann Davy and the children were given the Parnell name as a middle name. The first being my gt grandfather in 1858.

Hence the interest in the 2nd marriage of a Sarah Ann Fullcher in 1856. (I haven't been able to find a death for her).

I don't suppose it's possible for you to look at that marriage also? Any help with this would be appreciated.

Thanks again, best wishes,
Sue

Sorry Ray, I meant 1861 census!  A mistype, sorry.

But yes you have the right people though.

By 1861 he had a housekeeper, Ann Davy and he's shown as married. but no mention of his wife. They are living in Little Melton, Norfolk. By 1871 he and Sarah Davy are living together as husband and wife (she was using the Parnell name). Although their children are shown as Parnell's, they were registered as Davy. I have their 1st son's birth cert. (Edward Parnell Davy).

So I'm trying to find out what happened to Edward's first wife.

Hope that helps,
Regards,
Sue

Thankyou Ray,

I think I will have to get that death certificate, if it is wrong at least it would rule that one out.

Thanks for all your help,
Sue

Sorry for the late reply (11-years !) I have these GOODSONs in my tree .
I have Charles Batley Goodson marrying Sarah Ann Fulcher April 11 1856 at Sprowston, Norwich.
He was my 1st cousin 5x removed. (my 3x Great grand dad was CBGs 1st Cousin) . The Goodson's appear to have been a very big family in the area back in the day. My earliest traceable Goodson was William b 1655 (I got this info from other Genealogists and pieced it all together !)

Hi Andy,

If you have the marriage certificate for Sarah Ann Fulcher & Charles Batley Goodson I'd be most interested to know the name of Sarah's father. It is the Fulcher family that I'm following.

Many thanks, Sue

The Sarah Parnell who died 1863 Forehoe registration was 62 years old. So not the right one.
