Hi Alli,

I don't have access to any parish records but there is come information on BAKERs of Cutcombe on the following web page which may be of use to you:

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/2283/families/baker.html#william_baker_m1770

and

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Park/2283/families/baker.html#thomas_baker_b1781

The first link appears to have the family you're looking for with the names of William & Mary's children as well as Mary's maiden name and their marriage date.

Hope this is useful.

Regards,

Al

Glad I could help Alli.

Did you see that there was an e-mail address on the page for the person that collected the data?  I spotted it after I replied to your post!

Hello Alli,

I know this topic is ancient, but you are a Baker the post is Somerset and Cutcombe and William Baker and Mary Edbrooke.

Have you worked out your Cutcombe folks? How are you connected?

William and Mary were my 6th great grandparents. I descend from their eldest son John b Nov 1770 and and then Thomas b 1808.  :)

I have lots of info of my direct line. Getting back from Thomas to John was a major breakthrough for me.  8)

Would enjoy sharing and comparing.  :D

Salute,

Janelle

Allie,

And I thought Thomas married Jane Crockford.  :-\

Oh, I shall have to check my research. I have not put any of Thomas's in-laws into my tree, or my reason for thinking it was Jane he married. I can see from other sources that Jane and Grace are probably sisters, dau of James and Joan. Both sisters marry a Thomas Baker a piece, wow.

I also understood that Thomas was a blacksmith like his father, as per William's will (d 1816). That is a beautiful document with some interesting spelling by the clerk and William's distribution of his spoons.  8)

I did see Thomas b 1813 son of Thomas and Grace when I was looking for the baptism of my Thomas (b 1808 Luxborough), son of John and Ann Greenslade. John was a shopkeeper at Luxborough which is per William's will.

Too many Thomas Baker of Cutcombe. I thought having 3 x John Baker to chose from was a test, but sorting the Crockford / Baker marriages will be interesting.

I have bought copies of Stoate's transcriptions for Cutcombe, Exford and places in between and found more in them than on http://www.wsom.org.uk/ or FreeREG. I enjoy searching registers in book form, easy to do on the bus to work. Using them I have gone back through the Edbrookes back to William and his wife Richord Houndel c 1633 in Exford.

Thankyou for getting back to me with your connection to W and M. I'll look into Uncle Tom and see why I have what.

Salute,

Janelle

Hello Alli,

I am preparing a reply of my review of each generation of your Thomas Baker's as I have found them online and in my tree.

Shall I do this via reply to this post, personal message you, or a new topic under Somerset? Your call.  :)

Salute,

Janelle
