Help!

As an absolute beginner, other than the typed word, I am VERY  impressed with the photographs which accompany some of the messages.  Can someone please explain how this is done?

Also - what does the Teletype icon do?

I'm learning something new- where the devil is the teletype icon :-[ ???

I would suggest that you try asking on the beginners board.  Ive been on here for ages and I'm still asking questions on there - they are so helpfull :)

Thanks Fiona for your prompt reply and helpful suggestion.  I will give this a try later.  The teletype icon is on the bottom row of the BBC tags (the typewriter). 

This is an excellent site but a bit too technical for me at present; no doubt I will be able to find my way around it (I hope) as time goes on.   I have never spent so much time at the keyboard - I'm supposed to be researching names for family history but get sidetracked reading all the postings!

Hi Lavinia,

Welcome to Rootschat.  You are not alone about getting sidetracked reading the boards.  A whole afternoon can go by as I am so engrossed.  This is a friendly and very helpful site so enjoy.  As for technical questions there is always someone who can help you.  I must admit, however, that I still have not mastered the art of putting the pictures on site, mainly because I lack the technical expertise to make the pictures small enough to load them on.
