Title: MORGAN / GLANCY - Bailieborough area
Post by: ashe on Thursday 01 March 07 11:39 GMT (UK)
Hi Everyone

Am searching for parents of my ancestors John Morgan & Mary Glancy.

John was born abt 1785, served in the Cavan Militia 1803-07, then attested to the 52nd British Reg 1807. I believe that his father and a brother were killed serving for their country.

I have no information on Mary.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards
Ashe

Hi Ashe,
I too have John Morgan m. Mary Glancy/Clancy in the tree that I am working on.
I have been able to find a lot of information on the children of John and Mary - especially through Newspaper notices (Belfast), but nothing prior to their marriage in 1806 (Shercock, Co. Cavan).
Through the UK, British Army and Navy Birth, Marriage and Death Records, 1730-1960, I (and you also) may have seen the "Statement of Service of Quartermaster Mr John Morgan of the 52nd Regiment - born Bailieborough Co. Cavan Ireland DOB 24th June 1785. Age on his first Entrance into the Army, 22 years - 101 days."
Happy to share any further information with you - and perhaps you too have something to offer.
Regards
meg

Poster hasn't been online since 2010. Perhaps they will get notified of your post and respond but if they've notifications turned off or have changed email address then you may not hear back. Perhaps try sending them a PM also.

Yes, Thankyou. I did see that they hadn’t been online for a while. I’m doubting anyway, but that’s for your input. Cheers
