Title: Vincent family
Post by: Jules1 on Monday 19 March 07 22:10 GMT (UK)

I wonder if anyone can help me please.

I am looking for the 1901 census record for a Frederick Augustus Vincent born  1898 in the Lymington District.  On his marriage certificate in 1920 it states that his father was called Harry Vincent and he is either a Barman or Carman??

Many thanks.

Hi Julie

This may be them as the father's occupation is Hire Carter with a notation that looks like Carman

Thank you so much, I think that must be the right family, I thought the marriage certificate looked like Carman and Sway does come under the Lymington District and the age for Frederick is correct.

Once again, many thanks for your help and very speedy response.

This is an old post but I'm just curious about these people because my great grandfather, and several of his ancestors were Frederick, but both my G Grandfather and GGG Grandfather were Frederick Augustus Vincent (one had a third name which was Janvrin) but the surprising thing is that it is the part of the world that my Vincents ended up in. They were originally Jersey but my G Grandfather was the post master at Hythe, not far from Lymington and I just wonder whether there is a distant cousin relationship here. Get in touch and will give some more detail. It is ten years on, but you never know. James
