Title: Birth Marriage & Death Indexes
Post by: Marjorie on Friday 05 March 04 21:39 GMT (UK)
Can anyone please tell me if there is an index of the area reference numbers for the Birth Marriage and Death Indexes  I can refer to? -    i.e. ' 6d'  is the reference for  Birmingham and '6b' for Wolverhampton.     I am actually looking for a birth in Crewkerne which I cannot find and wonder if, in fact, Crewkerne comes under another town. ???

are you referring to the details that come up on sites like freebmd and 1837online.  If so these are the volume and page numbers ie quarter March, volume 6a page 663.

I hope this is what you were looking for.
