Title: DIGNAM Family from Maker
Post by: LzzieG on Wednesday 11 April 07 11:34 BST (UK)
I would love to hear from anyone researching the name of Dignam in the area of Maker, Cornwall.  I am descended from Andrew Dignam who was born in Antigua, West Indies in about 1790 and spent the majority of his life in Devon, mostly in the Devonport area. He was a mariner.  From the certificate of his second marriage, his father's name is recorded as also being Andrew who was a soap boiler.

I have come across a record of an Andrew Dignam who was buried 12 May 1830 aged 79 years at Maker and I think it is likely he maybe the father of Andrew who was born in Antigua. I would love to hear from anyone researching the name of Dignam from the Maker area as I feel there may be a connection to my Dignams from Devon.

Hi Dawn,   i come from the Dignams but I've never heard of a place called Maker. I have searched most of devon and Brixham and found places where they lived. It is frustrating not to be able to find anything from Antigua.
