Title: brampton marriage look up please!
Post by: soulsister on Friday 04 May 07 12:44 BST (UK)

would it be possible for sks to look up a marriage in brampton, somewhere before 1763, the marriage of CHARLES BEAL(E) to a SARAH (unknown)?

I have details of the baptism of their daughter, Sarah Beal as 25 Jul 1763 Brampton, Hunts.

No other details known as yet im afraid!

Regards

Emma

Hi Emma

Hunts Marriage Index has 1761 at Somersham Charles Beal widower of Brampton and Sarah Morton widow.

There is an earlier marriage in Brampton in 1754 between Charles Beall of Staughton and Mary Chapman.

There are burials in Brampton of Mary Beal on 27 Feb 1759, and in Somersham of Robert Morton on 15 March 1759

Marriage in Somersham in 1753 between Robert Morton and Sarah Archdeacon

Neither Somersham nor Brampton parish registers have been extracted onto the IGI, nor were the LDS permitted to film them, so the only place you can access them is at Huntingdon Records Office. Be aware therefore that the christening on the IGI is a member submission, which I always take with a very healthy pinch of salt.

YYYYYYYEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!
You dont know how exciting it was to see the answer to my request!!
For 10 years I have been attempting to find out where the MORTON name came from! Many of my ancestors have the middle name MORTON and now to actually see where it came from is brilliant!! THANKYOU SO MUCH!!

The ARCHDEACON name is an unusual one, I have never come across this before! Another line of research to add to the list!
Thankyou again! THis mesage has made the last 10 years!!!

Glad I've made someone happy today! I'm feeling pretty chuffed too, as I found this morning that William the Conqueror was my 28x g grandfather via the illegitimate son Reynold, of his son Henry I.

I find it slightly odd that children should have been given the middle name of Sarah's first husband, rather than her maiden name, although Archdeacon Beal would have made them sound like a church officials!

If you ever find out about the Archdeacons let me know, as I have Susanna Archdeacon married William Bright in Somersham on 2 May 1784. William was my 4xg grandfather and his second wife Sarah Wingrave was my 4xg grandmother, so I haven't researched Susanna who was his first wife.
