Can anyone help me identify this street in Alloa?
I took the photo in 2004 but didn't note its name.
Many thanks

I think you will find it is Mill Street.

Many thanks Nell :-)
Would you know which church it is at the end of the street?

I think it could be the parish church, also known as St Mungo's.

Thanks again :-)

Hi,
The church is actually the Chalmer's Church. The building has been used as a disco and nightclub for a number of years. St. Mungo's Church of Scotland is about 1/2 a mile away. St. Mungo's R.C. Church is a couple of hundred yards away on the right.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for the clarification. I must admit I didn't realise there were two St Mungo's and was getting confused because I didn't think my ancestor married in a Catholic Church.

This is Mill Street looking south west from the junction of Mill St and Drysdale St from outside the Thistle Bar. The church you ask about is the former Chalmers Church. St Mungo's Church is further west, follow the way the photo is pointing. The red building used to be The British Linen Bank but is now a tearoom.

What a great photo! It's almost identical to the one I took.
Thanks so much for posting it. :-)

Quite a few changes since 2004 if you look at Google Earth. The Falcon chipper is still there in 2103, "re the fish on the wall top left in your picture" at the junction of Mill Street and Drysdale Street.

Thanks, Malky. I didn't think to check Google Earth.
