Hi Jan

None of them are mine I have a copy of her first marriage which was in Welshpool to a John Hodges who was then 24 years old and a widower (father Thomas Hodges deceased) Elizabeth was aged 22 years and a spinster her father was Thomas Jones (occupation day labourer) they married 19th May 1869 at The Register Office in Welshpool both give their address as Mount Street, Welchpool, I did find Elizabeth on the 1871 census with John and a son called Thomas who was aged 7 although she was then down as  Eliza.

Thank you so much for your help

Jackie

Hi Jan

Did your David have a sister.  Elizabeth was married twice first to John Hodges then to my g grandfather whose name is William Brown another needle in a haystack with his name according to the 1891 census he was born in Bishops Castle but contacted them no luck with birth certificate, can't even find their marriage certificate, can not find him on any other census either so presume he was actually registered elsewhere.

Still living in hope.

Hello Jackie

I don't know whether David had a sister or not - he's one of my brickwalls :( ???.  He was born in 1845 so census records aren't going to help me!!!!!

SORRY! can't help - but if you never know if this brickwall comes down we might just be lucky.

Jan :)

Hi Jan

Maybe one day we will be able to knock these brick walls down seem to have rather a lot with this side of the family, Elizabeth Jones with born in Welchpool approx 1850, know her father was Thomas and that he was a labourer but that is as far as I have got with these, this is course is the one that marriage William Brown and lived in Halls Passage, I have a lot of cousins in North Wales, Mold and Buckley but the are from my mum's side but the Jones are from my dad's.

Thanks you

Jackie

Hi Jackie

I don't know if this helps at all but this is my David Jones obit:-

"One of the oldest inhabitants of Welshpool, Mr David Jones of 8 Bear Yard, died on Sunday at the age of 90 years.  A native of Welshpool, he had lived in the town all his life, and for about thirty years was a macebearer to the Corporation.  His wife died 23 years ago.  He is survived by one son & six daughters - Mr William Jones, Bootle, Mrs Williamson, Bootle, Mrs Oliver, Welshpool, Mrs Lightwood, Ruabon, Mrs Grice, Welshpool, Miss M Jones 8 Bear Yard and Mrs England.  The funeral took palce on Friday, interment being at St Mary's Churchyard.  The Vicar Ref F R Baldock conducted a service in the church and officiated at the graveside, where the Oddfellow's funeral oration was read."

Thought I would post it just in case!!!!!

Hello Jan

None of the names are the same as mine, her name was Elizabeth, married first to a Hodges and then to Brown (although can find no marriage cert)  she  must have moved to Shrewsbury fairly soon after as have found her in 1871 living there, only married in 1869 to J Hodges in Welshpool, he was from Wem.  We will keep chipping away at the wall maybe meet in the middle sometime.

Best wishes

Jackie

Hi,
My name is Dave Brady and I am almost certain we have a connection with the Olivers and Jones of Bear Yard, Welshpool.
My partner's grandmother was Nellie Oliver of 2 Bear Yard and her parents were Samuel Oliver and Sarah Jane Jones. If I'm not mistaken Sarah was one of the people mentioned in one of your previous posts.
I have just come back from a short break near Welshpool and unfortunately Bear Yard is now a car park.
I have a website (www.davebrady.co.uk) which I have put on the info I know (although some of it may be inaccurate as one of my sources has dementia).
Anyway, have a look, see what you think. If we do have a connection then we can take it further if you like.
Best Wishes
Dave
