My gt gt grandmother was born in Pockthorpe, Norwich, Norfolk in 1873 her name was Rosina Comber
She had a sister called Alice born 1875 also in Norwich, Norfolk
Their parents were John and Emma Comber
Emma's maiden name was Mofs
Can anyone help in finding them
I cannot find anything on any of the census
Any info would be much appreciated

Hi Jane
It just could be them as Rosina on later census when she married Edward Longbottom is down as all kinds of spelling for her first name
The Rose could be her and the ages for her and Alice are correct and when you actually look at the census it looks like Comber
I know the family must have moved to Yorkshire because thats where Rosina met Edward - he came from Leeds - they married in Halifax and settle in Burnley Lancashire
I ll delve a little further, but don't where Hephsibal comes from
I note shes down as a hawker and on Alice's birth certificate John - her father - is down as a hawker
Thanks for that
Much appreciated
best regards

Here's Hephzibar in 1871 (age varies a little!):
RG10; Piece: 1810; Folio: 133; Page: 11
Barrack St, Norwich
Hepsibiar Combar - Wife - 24 - Oxfordshire
John Combar - Son - 2 mo - Acle
In 1861, Hephzibah MOSS, aged 11, born Ascot, is a visitor in the household of John PEACHEY in Churchill, Oxon.
(The old-fashioned way of writing "ss" looks like "fs", so MOFS on your record for Emma is probably MOSS.)
Was Hephzibar also known as Emma? ???
