Thank you so much, that is a great help, Looks like Samuel Snr died late 1880's,
He was a Coal Miner, so its not supprising his sons have followed in his foot steps, and also looks like Harvie did dot survive ,
Thank you yes its a great help, most appreciated.

You are welcome  :)

With Maryann having a 7 year old son in the 1901 census I did a search for Samuel sen in the 1891 incase he was away from home. I could not see him. You would have to look on the original at Scotlands People to see if she was down as a widow in 1891.

certainly on Scotland's People there is only one  death record for aSamuel Douglas in lanarkshire between 1881 and 1891 and this is for a  33 yr old  in 1889 in the area of Larkhall.

The reference is     638/01 0112

Should also have said the 1881 census has the family living in Shawsburn in Dalserf with Samuel, Maryann, Hugh and Harvie.

Hi Falkryn,
Thank you very much for that, I wold say this is probably my Samuel, as a rough calculation on the death year+age, he would be born about 1856, I have an apox year of birth 1857,
I will have a look on scotlands people later at that,
Most appreciated

Hello
I am related to the Douglas's on my paternal grandmothers side.  Her father was Samuel Douglas (1885) who married Margaret Wilson.  His father was also Samuel Douglas (1857) who married Mary Ann Templeton.  I then have his father as Hugh Douglas (1834) who married Agnes Black.
I am stuck here and would love it if anyone has information going further back on the Douglas family please.
Yours Cassie
