Maud Rule returned to the US from Southampton on 27th September 1930
after visiting her parents in the UK. The immigration visa etc.was issued on the 8th July and her last residence was Glen Cove and the address of her friend was Mrs. Rose Scneider of 65 E 97 Street New York NY.
What month was the 1930 US census and will there be any information regarding her visit to the UK in 1930.
I can't find Maud in the 1930 census.

The 1930 census was in April. I couldn't find her in the 1930 either. Maybe she was in England for an extended visit.

If the visa etc was issued on the 8th of July,would she have been able to travel before that date?
Is Mrs. Rose Scneider in the census?
Maud worked for a Mrs. Porter Chandler when she emigrated in 1923 in Geneseo NY.
Maud's other employers were a Mrs. Foss and Mrs. Beouitt?

I will have another look around for her on the 1930 in Glen Cove. I did see some other immigration details for her when she lived in Geneseo.

Did she go by any other last names? I found a Maud Londora, born England abut 1887, a servant in Glen Cove to a Kelly family. I also tried to find one of the below families in Glen Cove in 1930 and couldn't. Do you know which family she worked for in 1930?

I don't know who she was working for in 1930. Unfortunately although she sent a couple of letters to her family they tore off the return address!
Took a look at the 1927 immigration and she was still working for the Porter Chandlers then. Why isn't there an address for that family but other's on the manifests have addressess?
SSDI haven't any information as far as I can see.
Maud was born in 1888 but is listed as 31 on the 1923 manifest.
What information is needed for the SSDI. Would she have needed a birth certificate?

I believe she would have had a Social Security card to be on the SSDI. I'm not sure what information she would have required in those days to get a SS card, but I would think some sort of identification would have been required. The SSDI mostly covers people who died in 1962 or thereafter, so she may not be showing up if she died before that.

The reason I asked is because Maud used her step-father's name. Her surname was Mannell.

I checked the SSDI under both those names and didn't find her. I also can't find any of the people she worked for. She's an elusive one, in't she. :(

Just a quick couple notes on this older subject.. of yours
1- The SSDI- does not list all the people who have past on in the USA, nor does it list all those who have/had Social Security Numbers.
The SSDI- only list those who are past on- that drew off of their Social Security Funds. So, your Maud may have had a Social Security Card /Numbers, but never used it for her income .
It is a good place to check- but- does not hold it all.. :'( sad for us who seek

2- You noted that your family torn off the address, is the postal stamp readable , usually the post office stamps next to the stamp the letter has on it ,if so that should tell a town area for her. It may contain such as NY but numbers that could be zip code numbers. You may want to check that out . Just a thought.

I will have to see if there are any envelopes with the letters. If there are I hope that the post mark is clear.
Mrs. Porter Chandler lived in Genesee? New York according to the manifest.
