Title: Fiddes of Maxton
Post by: castlebob on Sunday 24 June 07 16:04 BST (UK)
Hello,
I have a Christian Fiddes in my Bedfordshire/Armstrong family tree. The only one I've found on the IGI was born  in about 1727 in Maxton, near Jedburgh, Rox.
Does anyone have any info on who her parents etc may be? She died in Wilshamstead, Beds in 1794.
Also, if this is the correct girl, I'm wondering how & why she ended up so far from home?
Many thanks,
Bob Armstrong

Hi bob

Fraid unless is on IGI will be very difficult to find her parents. they won't unless you are extremely lucky be on the OPR baptism. These are on Scotland;s People but only for Established Church of Scotland.

The only 2 showing for whole of Scotland are below and I don;t think either are yours

04/06/1689 FIDDES CHRISTIAN JAMES FIDDES/ F Old Machar ABERDEEN CITY/ABERDEEN 168/B00 0010 0439

12/01/1807 FIDDES CHRISTIAN WILLIAM FIDDES/MARGARET SMITH U Fetteresso /KINCARDINE 258/ 0030 0151

Sorry can't help more!

Ann

hi pal, i suggest that you go back to the igi's and input the surname fiddess as there seems to be hundreds from maxton dating away back to 1692.

it seems that walter and john is a popular name.
