"Has anyone come across Gilbert Laurie B. 1767 Thurso (married to Jean MacDonald) and indeed their family including my Gt Gt Grandfather Thomas Laurie B. 1792 Olrig, (D. Dunnet 1862?)?"

On my Durran family tree I have a Thomas Laurie, born c1802, who married Janet Durran 10 February 1826 in Olrig. They had 8 children including Gilbert, born 1 December 1835 in Durran, Olrig. Thomas died 3 January 1875. I understand that this Thomas was the son of Gilbert Laurie & Jean Macdonald.

I am a descendent of this family through daughter Jane Lawrie marrying James Doull in1860 at Bower, Caithness
