Only Gunstone still listed on here within the whole province...
http://www.canada411.ca/....although may well be Joseph A descendants...
but may want to write and inquire as may have been a cousin...

Found this military file listing - so thought I'd post... J.J.

I think this may be of interest to you. Did you have a George Gunstone in your line as well?

I saw that, also, Janice...there was also a birth/ death in 1887/ Ecclesall B and in 1902 birth Sheffield for a Harry Hope Gunstone....wonder if either were a son to him...? Might have been a brother's child, as well...J.J.
I couldn't find the author's birthplace, though and it seems a recent publication....so it would be intersting to see where he came from that's for sure!  ;D  J.

I see now that Kate Hilda was born Ecclesall B. so the first likely could have been his boy...

Harry was a patternmaker by trade in England, ( 1881 & 1891 & 1901 census) Janice, in case you see him anywhere in directories...although trades can change when immigrating, depending on the demand....

Is the Joseph A. that Janice is finding in directories, an uncle, or is it Harry's son?
and did Mabel & Gladys emigrate as well?

In one post, you asked for further information, last week I found a gravestone in Abbey Lane Cemetery, Sheffield for Harry hope Gunstone and his wife Lilly Ada.
She died in 1940 aged 74, and he died 5th June 1941 aged 80yrs.
We were fascinated because the gravestone was opposite where we had parked whilst attending the funeral of Anthony Flint GUNSTONE, son of Dick GUNSTONE, Dick was the grandson of William Gunstone who founded Gunstone's Provisions & Bakeries, Sheffield.
From reading the posts, I think it is a different line of Gunstones - but there are so few in this area, and wondered if there may be alink as to why William & his wife Maria came to Sheffield from London in the late 19th century.
