Sorry I don't have access to the 1851 census. However this looks like the widowed Ellen and some of her family in 1861:

1861 census RG09/2611/29 / 9

Address:   Astbury Street, Congleton, Cheshire

WOOTTON, Ellen   Head   Widow 60   Housekeeper Congleton
WOOTTON, William   Son   Unm 27   Ribbon Weaver Congleton
WOOTTON, Ellen   Daughter   Unm 18   Silk Worker  Congleton
WOOTTON, Eliza   Daughter   Unm 16   Silk Worker Congleton

Cheers, Rian.

I thought you only wanted 1841, please say if you want 1851

If you'd been looking on ancestry for the 1841, the reason you didn't find them was that there are several pages missing for Astbury,  jumps from p.16 to 25, and the Wootons are page 19 of course

I don't know why the pages are missing on ancestry, I found them on findmypast.  Which Smiths in which Stoke? - post them on the county board and someone will have a go  :)

Hi Nel, I have just found this site and am also looking for details of Charles Wootton from Congleton who married Ellen Booth. My interest is through my wife's family who decend from Charles to William Booth Wootton who married Martha Kendrick, then onto Thomas Wootton (who's name was changed to Wootten after the first world war).

Thomas was my wife's grandfather. I have Eliza Booth Wootton's birth certificate which shows Charles as a weaver living in congleton in 1844 and Willaim Booth Wootton's marriage certificate which shows he hd died by 1871. I have it logged in the wrightybeans family tree in ancestry.com if that is of any use to you. Unfortunately I can't see the entry for 1841 that Barbara has mentioned but if true it looks a very good source. Let me know if you want copies of the certs and we can arrange to e-mail them.

Hi Gray I think I tried to contact you via ancestry!! Thomas' brother William was my G Grandfather, his daughter Nellie is my Grandma. I would love to share info. Are your wife's family also living in Australia, as I have some info regarding their branch. My Great Uncle, ( Nellies brother) is also very interested in his family history and we're only up the road!!! Hope to hear from you and your wife Nel
