I am looking for details of Emma Knibbs born abt 1835 I think could be Tackley but definatley Oxfordshire.Father William Knibbs(boatman). She got married in 1857 to a Goerge Hughes. So I wonder if there is a census say either 1841 or 1851 with her family on.

I'm sure you asked for the 1861 census when you first posted your message, now I feel a bit silly as it seems you don't want it.

Did you ever find details for Emma's family in 1841 or 1851? There were listed as Knibs:
In 1851, we see William living at Rocks Hill, Kingswinford, Brierly Hill, Staffordshire:
John Hickson Head Man 28 Boatman Oxford
Jane Hickson Wife Mar 24 Oxford
John Hickson Son 3 Kingswinford Staffordshire
George Hickson Son 6 months Kingswinford Staffordshire
William Knibs Lodger 47 Mar Boatman Somerton Oxfordshire
Mary Knibs Wife 40 Somerton Oxfordshire
Emma Knibs Sister in Law 16 Kingswinford Staffordshire
Hanna Knibs Sister in Law 6 Kingswinford Staffordshire
These are part of "my lot" so I'd be interested in sharing details.

Hi.
I still have the 1841 census with her living at Heath Village,Bicester,Oxfordshire with a question mark by it.
In 1851 I have aged 21 servant living at 2,Rectory Place,West Hackney,Middlesex with the Woodruffe family HO1071504 F73 P21. with a question mark by it.Your 1851 looks really good her sister Hannah was 7 in 1841 but in 1851 was only 6 could be an error or could be another Hannah if the first one had died.Mother in 1841 Sarah.Mary in 1851.I have not really followed her family because Emma's third husband Joseph Stevens(married 27/11/1880 Cradley Heath)also his third marriage.Joseph married firstly Eliza Mary Williams 7/8/1859 at St Thomas,Dudley had a daughter Phoebe born 29/1/1863 Birmingham married a Thomas Mansell 19/4/1885 St Martins,Tipton.Thomas is my great granddad's brother. If I could find Emma's Baptism some where I think in Oxfordshire(I have been there and tried but no luck)it would be great.Maybe there is a marriage for her father some where there as well because it says Mary is from Somerton think that should be Summertown its very near Tackley where I have Emma being born.
Hope you can understand my explanation.

It's certainly a complicated part of the family, and in truth, I'm only partly sure that they're even part of my lot. i think it was fairly common for canal boat people to be missing from the census returns, simply due to the nature of their life.
I somehow managed to leave one member of the household off the 1851 listing I sent you. Also at the same address was:
Joseph Knibs son in Law 4 Kingswinford Staffordshire
The 1841 census for Heath Village, Bicester, doesn't seem to fit into anything I have for them.
Somerton does exist in Oxfordshire, in fact it's about 6 miles north-west of Bicester. I have other parts of my Knibbs family from Somerton but have mnever seen any records, other than census returns, to confirm that Emma's father, William, was born there. I have made the conjectiure that William was born out of wedlock.
I have the marriage between Emma and Joseph Stevens on my web site at http://knibbs-family.org/fam1525.html. You can click onto Emma's father's name at the top of that page, and there, on his page, in Brown ink, there an explanation about the conjecture I've made that he even belongs in my pages. Wiliam is one of many canal boat people that have caused me problems.
Regards.....Don
