I've only passed it, it is still there if that's what you wanted to know, if you travel on the coast road through North Wales towards Prestatyn it'll be on the left.

Hi there,

Unfortunately the LLetty is now closed and going, slowly but surely, to rack and ruin. It is all boarded up. It is a shame as the hotel is the best part of 400 years old.

It is situated on the A548 road,on the left as travelling west, at the traffic lights which control the junction with the entrance to the port of Mostyn.

Have a look at the following site;

Hi Steven. Don't know if you're still interested but I passed the Lletty Hotel today and it was open and looking good - see photo attached.

Also I have a copy of a document from 1928 when it was being sold off - one of 44 licensed houses - by St Winefred's Brewery Company for £1,000. At that time it had been occupied by the tenant Mr M Cohen for 5 years.

I can email you a copy if you like.

My Mum always told me she thought her grandparents owned the Lletty at some time.......... Something else for me to-do list ::)

I do know her grandfather was the licensee of the Swan Inn Greenfield in 1917.

I spend most of my weekends in The Lletty with my Grandad when i was a proper boy. Being 22 i aint much older than a pup but the memories will stay. I remember my Grandad used to get that drunk in the afternoon on the winter nights he had to follow my light-up trainers up the lletty hill haha.
The Lletty has been opening and shutting a great deal the last few years but is running well at this present moment.

 :) ;) :D ;D

phil100652  ;D I'm trying to trace who the owners of the Lletty in 1841-1871 as I am helping my friend trace her family who seemed to run the Inn between this time!! The info you have would be helpful to add to her file so I would be very grateful of a copy of this as it may give us some insight as to whether they owned the pub or just ran it!! :)
Many Thanks!!

Would the local records office not have the information, I imagine each owner had to pay their "fair share" of taxes...http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/FLN/#History  ...at the very least they can probably point you in the right direction
This fellow seems to have a real love for the old building...

Reopened and repainted  http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/561741
The honest man 1699 sign over the door has also been repainted... good for the new owners to give the place a new life ... http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1145263

Thanks J.J. I noticed those pics as we were trawling the net and wondered why that person was so interested in The Lletty myself!! :)
We went to the Records office in Mold and Hawarden on Thursday but no info on the owners of the building I'm afraid, though the staff were brilliant!! :)
Plus we were also looking for burial records and apparently lots of those got lost too so we ended up traipsing around the cemetaries of the area but to no avail!!
Ahhh well... at least we got a day out!! :)
Many thanks once again! :)

Hi

Do you still have the copy of the 1928 document regarding the Lletty Hotel?
If so would you mind sending me a copy?

We submitted an offer to buy the pub today and are keen to get as much information/history on the property as we can.

If anyone has any old photos they could post on here or send to me via email that would be fab!

We want to achieve a sympathetic refurb which will require taking her back to her bare bones and removing hundreds of years of who knows what on the hope of finding some original features.

Once the renovation has been completed we intend to reopen the old girl as a family run pub for locals/visitors/families.

Thank you

Tina
