Title: Ryan's in Tullamore COMPLETED
Post by: Alan Ryan on Sunday 04 November 07 15:41 GMT (UK)
Patrick Ryan 1847-1915, wife Mary 1858-1891, children-Stephen 1872, Mary 1873, Margaret born in TULLAMORE 1874, John 1876, Frances 1878. Left Ireland 1878-1881 for Bradford, England. Patrick's father was William, a tailor. I have them in England but nothing in Ireland. Can anybody shine a light back from the end of the tunnel.  Thanks a lot, Alan Ryan. ???

Think I found the family in Ireland but the dates are a bit different:

Patrick Ryan & Mary Lamb:
1. Mary Ellen born 12 Apr.1872 Co. Offaly
2. Margaret born 27 Sept.1873 Tullamore, Offaly
3. John born 10 July 1875 Co.Offaly
4. Anne born 30 Dec.1876 Tullamore, Offaly
5. Frances born 18 Jan.1878 Tullamore, Offaly

If this is the correct family let me know and I'll suggest where to go from here.

Glad that it is the correct family (will send you a pm shortly). BVRI 2nd ed. shows just Mary Ellen & Margaret with both born Tullamore, Kings Co. (the old name for Co.Offaly as you probably know).
Now for some sources to follow up:
If the family were Catholic- LDS has church records on microfilm which you can get on loan to your local LDS library for a small fee:
Parochial registers of Tullamore (Offaly) 1801-1881 (bapt. 1809-1881, marriages 1801-1880) FHL British Film 926186
This would hopefully give you baptismal records for all the children (there could be others you haven't found yet) and maybe parents' marriage, etc.
I should mention that Tullamore is probably the registration district where the children's births were registered but a birth certificate would verify the actual address- whether in Tullamore itself or a nearby townland.

Massive thanks to "Aghadowey"   ;) who makes it all sound so simple  :) I've now got a start and some resource references, all I need to do now, is learn how to use them. :D
