Title: SIT: "Show a RootsChatter's Name Interests" ??
Post by: Twinmum on Monday 14 January 08 09:27 GMT (UK)
I love the idea of the SIT. I was wondering.. maybe I've missed something (or possibly expect too much) but when I find someone who has a common surname interest to me, is there some way to find out what other names they have listed? I click on their name and it brings up their profile and some people have their interest names added to their profile **thinks I should add mine to my profile** but some don't.
For example, it would be good if I found someone who had an interest in Pearce in Surrey, then with a click, see if they also had an interest in Field in Hampshire.

Hi Norma,

glad you like the SIT  :)

3 Possibilities:

1)
Surname Search -> F -> FIELD then you will find a list of everybody searching for that name.
Surname Search  -> P -> PIERCE  then you will find a list of everybody searching for that name.
It's up to you to do the comparisons.

2)
Advanced Search -> FIELD + Surrey  gives you a list of people searching for Field in Surrey
Again, it's up to you, to compare names and make connections.

3)
Your idea: "Show a member's Name Interests"  where you input a RootsChatter's user name would need programming, but it would be do-able.

Anybody else think it's a good idea / necessary feature ??

It might show cases where fellow Rootschatters have more than one name in common - and therefore more likely to be kin.
