-
Hoplass I'd say - any other flowery H's to compare with on the page ?
-
Looks like Hoplass to me as well :)
-
No other capital H's on the page
another look could be Sleepless ?
-
Can you give us the census reference? :)
-
RG10; Piece: 5519; Folio: 31
-
Do you have the page as well? :)
OK, sorry - don't bother
-
On page 9 there are lots of such fancy Hs (Hentland, Hollybush, House). Also, most of the 'Heads' of family start with a letter that looks exactly like the one in Hoplass.
Still putting my money on Hoplass :)

I think you are right tati, I just got a second opinion here now.
thanks for your efforts

This will definitely be Hoplass - if you look at the current area there is still a 'Hoplass Farm' at Rhoscrowther hope this is helpful to you.

Thank you, nice to be greeted! (Must learn to read the post prior to mine not to look too silly though!) I think this site will be most helpful and hopefully i can help others! I have looked at many but this seemed to be not too formal and came across as really friendly - so looking forward to being part of it.

I am lucky to have a very understanding partner, who helps with the research and enjoys stomping thru the churchyards! ;D Been into it for many years, but only recently had the luxury of the net at home - so in my element. :) Still finding my feet, found the newbies questions very helpful. Lookin forward to feelin in a few gaps in my research and then ........ well who knows?

Barnstaple is a lovely area, you will enjoy the rural side of it.
Good luck with your quest, whether friend, feast or family - have fun.

Su :)
It is on the Angle to Pembroke Road. I passed it only the other week ;D

There is a Hoplass farm just within the parish of Rhoscrowther therefore I would suggest it is HOPLASS.
It also gives rise to the family name of HOPLA.
