If you come upon large lists of children in your census searches..may be listed as inmate.

This is the 1921 Census showing Sacred Heart Orphanage - Catholic, Parkdale, West Toronto
Many children. I could just see one page, male, mostly born in Ontario, a few Saskatchewan, Italy, Ireland, Quebec etc.
