Hi Sue, thanks for info. We think it is Guernsey not Germany. We are trying to trace marriages, children and deaths for all the children now. Harriet, Anthony,Sarah Margaret, william and two that we only know of by their initials- M L and H G.All born between 1843 and 1855 in Devon.
We are in Scotland and is not easy tracing English ancestors ;D

I found your site by random and I am very glad to be able to connect to english relatives and tell them about the story of our family. I don't see that you have older informations before the arrival of my cousin, François Antoine EMERIC de ST DALMAS in ENGLAND before the french Revolution .
The EMERIC de ST DALMAS family is an ancient and noble family from St ETIENNE de TINEE in the south of FRANCE - 1h distance from NICE and 15 mn from ST DALMAS. François Antoine born in 1724 was the first son of Joseph Victor EMERIC 2nd count of ST DALMAS (1696 1766) and Marie Madeleine RAYNARDI de BELVEDERE. Joseph Erige François (1730 1795), who married Madeleine RIBOTTI de VAL de BLORE, was a judge and the 3rd count; his only daughter Marie Anne Madeleine, born in 1760, married in 1785 - Jean Baptiste Vincent D'AUDIFFRET.
The 2nd count, Joseph Victor, was the son of Erige (1656 - 1744) - a lawyer who had a PHD in law and married Françoise DE RAMINI. I am a descendant of his sister Marie EMERIC (1655 - 1733), who married Jacques Antoine FULCONIS .
Their father Pierre EMERIC was a kind of banker. I have his will and the inventory made after his death in 1671. He married twice, once in 1622 to Catherine SPIGOLIS and then in 1652 to Spirite DALMAZZO.
He was the son of Esprit EMERIC, who lived in ST ETIENNE in 1550 with his wife Louise .
I have many documents in copy concerning the family .
The family made alliances to the ACHIARDI, GALLEA baron DELLA MADDALENA, FABRI, RIBOTTI counts of VAL DE BLORE and BALDOINO counts of CLANS .
The family seal in french is: de gueules aux 2 palmes d'argent en sautoir cantonnées d'une étoile d'or en chef et de 2 croisettes d'or.
Our ancestors are burried in the chapel of the convent of the Trinitaires in ST ETIENNE and we can still see their lord's house in ST DALMAS le SELVAGE .
My e mail address is *
I have a secondary house 20mn from ST ETIENNE .

Hi, I have been trying to do a little bit of family research, although technically, whilst I loved this man dearly, he was not strictly a blood relation. My step grandfather, was named Emeric Dilworth de St Dalmas, we called him uncle Dal. He was a Count, but had come to Britain from Canada, he was French Canadian . He married my maternal grandmother, sometime after the war. He had a son, Tony, but I do not know much about him. He was a wonderful person, a true gentleman, I have pictures of him, but he sadly died at a grand old age of 90 something in 1984. I would be absolutely fascinated to know if there was a connection. So, please, if any one sees this post, please please get back to me, many, thanks,

Henry P.E. De St Dalmas was living in the home I grew up in (8 Dacre Park Lee London - now. no 115) as a retired evangelist preacher with his wife Sarah in 1891. Before that he was in Wellington and before that Dartmouth. He died in Barnstaple in 1904.
