Are you looking for any particular information?

Sorry I didn't outline that in my original message aghadowey.
I was just looking to see if anyone knew of any of the people mentioned or if they had a connection.
Thanks

Oisín...I hope you're still on RC.
I saw this post and I also saw your notes about this family on Lindel Buckley's webpage......http://donegalgenealogy.com/dorinaghanunshinfam.htm
I was wondering if you had discovered any more about this family since you left that information.
I'm researching a Doran family and I thought it was a strange coincidence that the parents were also a Daniel Doran/Dorian and a Margaret McGowen. I have found four children for them but the address given was Ballyboe in Letterkenny parish.......Daniel b 1855, Margaret b 1859, Edward b 1864 and James b 1870.
I don't know if I'm dealing with 2 family's or one. It's confusing. Specially when trying to sort out marriages for the children.
An Edward Doran (father Daniel) married a Grace McDaid in 1895. These two eventually ended up in Scotland. It was while I was investigating the McDaids, because of a DNA match I have, that came across the Dorans. When Edward Doran died in Scotland he gave his parents as Daniel Doran and Margaret McGowan.
Now I seem to have a couple of distant DNA matches to the Dorans as well. Not sure why.. I do have McGowans on my dad's side but they are a huge brick wall.
Any new info you can give about the Dorans would be much appreciated.

I have one now! ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
They must be somehow connected because on the baptism of Daniel Doran/Dorrian the sponsors are a James Toner and Rose Toner. Toner is on my dad's side too.
-
hopefully you can figure them out...
Have you tried Church Registers?
I haven't.... ;D
-
I'm sure I must have ;D I have access to Rootsireland, Ancestry and FindMyPast. Not too addicted am I ::)
I started this out to help someone figure out why we had a DNA match. It's become a huge project. Good thing I'm retired.

You probably have... Transcribed at Ancestry & FindMyPast

The parish records are few for this part of Donegal. Mostly you have to rely on luck. DNA has helped.

Hi ForTheFamily,
My apologies, I haven't used Rootschat in years, but I have still been doing my genealogy off and on since then. I have quite a bit more info now on the Doran's (originally Dorian of Fanad) and a bit on the McGowan's. Not aware of a Toner connection, but perhaps we could swap notes and see what more we can discover?

Hello :)
I'm sorry to say that after much research I have no idea what my connection is to that family.

I just noticed I have another DNA match that leads back to the Doran family. None of these matches are really close. I was interested in the McGowan connection as my grandmother was a McGowan.
