I am researching my fathers family and have hit a brick wall!
My grandfather was a William Neill born i think in Benburb he married a Matilda Watt and they lived in Benburb until the 1930's when they moved to Glasgow. I am trying to find information about both my grandparents ancestors.
Matilda, born 1886 (one of 10 children) was the daughter of David Watt a farmer and Annie Jane Neville of Drumderg.
William born 1884, was, I think the son of Thomas Neill (0ne of 9 children) and I think Ellen Irwin.
Can anyone help - my father (now 93) cannot remember much but would love to know more about his own family.
Many thanks

Got some info for you regarding your ancestors:
12th Nov 1885 David Watt married Anne J Nevills at Clonfeacle Church of Ireland in the Parish of Clonfeacle, Civil District of Dungannon County Tyrone.
2nd August 1910 William James Neill married Matilda Watt at Benburb Presbyterian Church, in the Parish of Clonfeacle, Civil District Dungannon
County Tyrone.

Welcome to Rootschat. IGI lists a one of the Neill family:
Archibald Neill born 25 Feb.1881 Gawaghy dist. Co. Tyrone, son of Thomas Neill & Ellen Irwin.
Since it would be very expensive to get birth certificates for all the Neill and Watt children you might want to see if you can find what church they attended and then check LDS catalogue to see if they've microfilmed the church records, and if they cover the dates you need.

Thankyou for your quick reply,Archibold was my grandfathers brother and I did not know his wifes name. The whole of the Neill family were (and still are for the most part) Orange Men and Presbyterians.
Have tried to get info from Benburb but there is some 'domestic' problem between the Minister and the Elders and they say the Minister will not release church records - don't know if this is still the case.
Will carry on looking
Many thanks

Sorry
Out of interest
Thomas John Neill b 1880 married Emily Stafford b1888 at Eglish Pres Church 3/9/1907 - townland beside Benburb. They had 3 children - Thomas John b1908, Alfred Archey b 1909 and William James b1911.
Could possibly have a link, you never know - her parents John and Sarah Stafford died a few years later at the same time fom TB.
Emily was my great granny's sister - I am in regular touch with my Stafford's due to family research. Let me know if I can help.
