Bernard Kirwan was hanged in 1943 accused of murdering his brother Lawrence.The more gruesome side of this story is on the beginners boards,if I get confident I will try to link the two boards later today.I am trying to find the parentage especially that of their mother or any info on these two brothers-I am sure they lived in the Ballycumber area of Offaly.Thank you.

Hi I know this is an old post but I’m curious about this case for several reasons I’m related to the family and nobody will talk about it does anyone know who the Gorry woman was they fell out over.

There was a letter read in court to the Jury (dated 13/10/41) . Dear Lar, Please do not let Nan see this letter and do not ever say I sent it to you.............. the letter concluded "Love Kathleen a kiss, One stolen one, one lovely one" sent from a Middlesex Hospital where "Kathleen" was working (Evening Herald, January 22nd 1943)

They lived in Ballincloghan, Rahan, Co. Offaly. Another brother, Peter, and sister Mrs Margaret Conroy gave evidence in the trial.

Ok so from what the documentary would lead you to believe it may not have been Laurance body in the bog. I’m am eager to learn as much as possible about this. I know all of these area’s I have read the book realeased recently with the chapter in it about it. I know all the area’s Ballincur and Ballincloghan. I have asked living members of the family about this and trust me I won’t ask a second time.
