This might well be Henry:

and in 1861:

Alexander, 1, b. Thurso
Hugh McDonald, 26, lodger, labourer, b. Farr, Sutherland
Geroge Mckay, 24, lodger, labourer, b. Farr, Sutherland
I'll try and trace them through the censuses to see if they suddenly disappear with no death record :)

Alexander - 7 July 1859
George - 28 July 1861
Robert - 10 Nov 1863
William and Catherine - 6 Sept 1867

Hi aneta
I'm very pleased that I've found your family. I'll now do some more hunting for Alexander and Catherine. As far as i can see Catherine's surname was also Sutherland. There was also a Catherine Henderson m. to an Alexander having children at the same time but 'your' Henry's mother was definitely Sutherland.
I've found the following baptisms for children of the couple in the parish of Latheron on SP:
24 Dec 1829 - Christian
28 July 1832 - Henry
12 June 1835 - Alexander
24 Jult 1837 - Catherine
24 Nov 1839 - David
21 Feb 1841 - Margaret
I've not yet been able to find a baptism for Robert (aged 2 on the 1851 census). There is a patron submission on the IGI for just 1849, Berriedale, parents Alexander and Catherine Sutherland but nothing on SP so far :-\

1861
Dry Hill, Latheron
RD 38 Ed 2b Page 13
Alexr Sutherland, 56, fisherman, b. Dunbeath
Catherin, 54, fisherman's wife, b. Dunbeath
Robert, 12, Scholar, b. Dunbeath
Wm, 10, Scholar, b. Dunbeath
Dunbeath is about 10 km north of Berriedale. Their marriage entry (1 Jan 1829)shows them as both of Ramscraigs which is half way between Berriedale and Dunbeath.
I've checked the 1851 to see if there was another couple but can't find one so this family is possibly yours.
The 1871 bears this out:
Knockally (just to the north of Ramscraigs, closer to Dunbeath)
RD 38 ED 17 Page 13
Alexander Sutherland, 66, fisherman, b. Dunbeath
Catherine, 64, fisherman's wife, b. Dunbeath
Robert, 21, ag lab, b. Dunbeath

1881
Township of Castle Neil, Latheron
RD 38 ED 17 page 12
Robert Sutherland, 30, Crofter, b. Latheron , Castlehill
Margaret, wife, 19, b. Latheron , Forse
Janet, daughter, 2 months, b. latheron, Castlehill
Catherine, mother, widow, 75, fisherman's wife, b. Latheron, Ramscraigs
Alexander obviously dies between 1871 and 1881. I'll check for a death cert which should give his parents' names.

Fortunately I found him with first pick - there were 4 or 5 to choose from!
Alexander Sutherland died 25 March 1879 (that's tomorrow) , aged 75, at Ramscraigs, Dunbeath. Married to Catherine Sutherland.
His parents were Alexander Sutherland, crofter and fisherman, and Christian, m.s. McKenzie, both deceased.
His son Robert was the informant.

I can't find a death for Catherine at the moment - too many to choose from :-\
Turning back to Henry and Isabella:
1891:
Sinclair Street, Thurso
RD 41 ED 1 Page 55
Henry Sutherland, 59, labourer, b. Dunbeath
Isabella, 56, b. Thurso
Kate, 25, dressmaker, b. Thurso
Henrietta, 15, servant - domestic, b. Thurso
Alexina, 10, pupil teacher, b. Thurso
I think that William was a farm servant at Brawl, Halkirk:
RD 37a ED 3 Page 4
William Sutherland, 25, farm servant, b. Thurso
Did he marry here or Australia?

By 1901, Henry must have died (will check) and the family have moved to Lanarrkshire:
Main Street, Cambuslang, Lanark
RD 627 ED 16 Page 34
Isabella Sutherland,65, b. Thurso
Kate, 33, dressmaker, b. Thurso
Mary 31, tobacconist shp, b. Thurso
Alexina, 29, school teacher, b. Thurso
Henrietta, 25, dressmaker, b. Thurso
William might well be here:
41 Mordant St, Bridgeton, Glasgow
RD 644/1 Ed 68 Page 11
William Sutherland, boarder, 25 35 , gatekeeper - gas works, b. Thurso

Very interesting:
Henry died January 25th 1892, aged 58, at Sinclair St, Thurso. A farm servant, married to Isabella Elder. His daughter Mary Ann Sutherland was the informant
Mary Ann gives his parents as Alexander Sutherland, crofter deceased and Catherine, m.s. McKenzie (deceased).
I'm wondering if she has mixed up her grandmother's surmane with Alexander's mother, Christian McKenzie, because in the marriage record and all the children's bpt/births she is Catherine m.s. Sutherland.
I'll check for her death again.

Catherine Sutherland died May 21 1881, Ramscraigs, Dunbeath, aged 75. Widow of Alexander Sutherland, crofter and fisherman. Her parents are given as Henry Sutherland, fisherman (deceased) and Catherine, m.s. McKenzie (deceased). Her son Robert was the informant.
Obviously Mary Ann got confused on Henry's death cert.

There are IGI, Patron submissions for:
Henry Sutherland m Katherine McKenzie, 7 March 1797, Latheron (Catherine's parents)
and
Alexander Sutherland m Christian McKenzie, 26 July 1799, Latheron (Alexander's parents)
These will need checking.

Unfotunately, the Latheon baptism registers don't list mothers and there are quite a few baptisms for children of Alexander Sutherland - 1797-1825, Latheron.
More success with Henry Sutherland:
17 Sept 1805 Katherine, d/o Henry Sutherland, Latheron.

Good morning Gadget :)
What a way to wake up and see all the information you have sent me I am so over the moon. 8)
If Henry died in Scotland that means that William came out to Australia.
He married Florence Scoles in Surry Hills in Sydney.
I was reading an old letter from an aunt of mine that was telling me that "MRS SUTHERLAND" SENIOR was a manageress in charge of what was a very big pie making company in NSW so that could possibly mean my great grandfather wife Florence was that woman, I will ahve to ask a group I belong to in NSW to see if they can find some information on that subject for me.
Gadget you have unlocked some mysteries for me regarding the SUTHERLANDS I remember my mum saying that the family were very guarded about their history god knows why.
I also remember mum saying that relatives coming out to Australia for a visit because they used to scare the life out of mum as my grandmother would make mum come home for lunch and she would run from the front door to the back yard and stay there till it was time to go back to school. I wonder who they were.
I will be puting this isnformation towards all the I have so far thank you so much I really appreciate the work you gone to.

Hi aneta
I think I've nearly exhausted what I can tell you.
The only baptism for a Henry Sutherland(Catherine's father) in Latheron 1750-1783 was
1 March 1775 son of William Sutherland.
There are quite a few Alexander's.

Only one baptism for a Christian M*cKenzie (Alexander's mother) in Latheron 1760 - 1786
13 August 1769 daughter of Alexander Mckenzie
and only one for a Catherine/Katherine M*cKenzie (Catherine/Katherine's mother)
1 January 1781 daughter of William MacKenzie

Hello aneta
I've looked at my sources for emigration and can't pinpoint your William. When did he marry?
It might be worth you posting on our Emigrants to Australia board:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,165.0.html
There are some very knowledgeable people there who. I'm sure, would help you find more information about him.

Hi, this post has helped fill in some of my research too. Robert Sutherland born 1851 and his wife Margaret born 1862 went on to have more children, one of them being Adam Sutherland, born 1895 who was my grandfather.

Hi,
We have an Alexander Sutherland who married a Jane Oliver on the 24/12/1831 at Latheron and I am wondering whether Alexander could be a cousin to your Alexander. The couple had five children, all born in Caithness and they arrived in NZ in 1856. A younger brother of Jane Oliver, William, emigrated to Australia and he later died in Berridale, a small country town south of Sydney. I am sure they would have known of each other as we have family letters written to William and they mentioned the local people in Latheron who emigrated either to Australia or New Zealand.
