I've looked and I've looked til I'm cross-eyed but can't find the low
numbered residences of Ber St , Norwich in 1901 Census.
Found plenty of high numbers but I'm looking for 20 - 40 area . Anyone know
Piece / Folio / Page ref(s) please ?
Particularly looking for the elusive FRANCIS family (William b 1853 & Sarah
b 1851 nee WOOLNER) - they were at 9 Fox and Hounds Yard (off Ber St) in
1891 and the same address is given on the death certificate of their teenage
daughter Amelia in Jan 1901 .... but they ain't there in the Census a few
months later . But I have an inkling they didn't move far away .....
Any help always appreciated , thank you .

Did you see the death registration for a William Francis born 1853 in Norwich in 1894.
Was Amelia's death registered by the mum?
Just a thought

Hi Tricia ! Thanks for the reply - and so quickly !
YES and YES in answer to your questions .
Not sure if that's MY William - maybe the Census will help confirm it.
I'm hoping to find mother of Amelia , (Sarah) , 12 yr old son William and more importantly my great-grand-dad John , who would've been about 20 ( b Trowse 1881)
Cheers

This is dreadful.
She appears to die in 1903 so where is she in 1901.
Possibly dittoed under a different surname. :o
Do you know John's occupation at all - could he be away somewhere?

Thanks for all this looking , Tricia - nice to know there's more eyes out there !
The full family should consist of :
Sarah FRANCIS (b abt 1851)
William FRANCIS (b abt 1850 but poss d 1894 , as per earlier post .
Previous Occupations showns as General Labourer)
John FRANCIS (b 1881) - possibly a Carman or Cabman (m cert 1906) or Ostler (b cert 1912) or similar labourer ?
William FRANCIS (b abt 1889)
I don't think that WOOLNER is a particularly common name and in 1900 Jarrold's Directory of Norfolk there's a Carrier (Horse Drawn , I assume ?) named Woolner doing the Loddon run Mon , Wed , Fri & Sat from the Kings Arms , Ber St . I'll check for poss' relationship to Sarah later.
Sarah had a couple of other children "prior to marriage" and they've been documented as Albert Woolner (b 1874) , Ellen Woolner (b 1876) & Annie Woolner (b 1880) . By 1901 the girls could be married but I would've thought Albert should be around ?

Albert Woolner is in Norwich in 1901.
Albert E Woolner, 26, gen lab., b. Trowse Newton
Mary Ann Woolner, 21, Norwich,
Mary M Woolner, 1, Norwich,
living with Mary Ann's mother Martha Mix.

Looks you found him , Icsnor !
Thanks for that !

It's a shame we can't find Sarah though.
I was interested in your note about the carrier to Loddon - there seem to quite a few Woolners in Loddon. I wondered if that may be where Sarah was but I can't see anything resembling her there (or anywhere else, even just searching on first names using her & william). It does make you wonder whether there are a couple of pages missing for that part of Ber St.

Hello, I appreciate this is forever old, Frances Woolner was my great great grandfater, who drove the busses (horse bus) down Woolners Lane in Norfolk, they nameed it after him. Did you find what you needed? As far as I am aware there is no Sarah Woolner from that line, from that line my grandfather said his father (Frances Woolner) had: Mary / Jimmy / John and George.
