Title: 1810 & 1820 Catholic Censuses of Preston
Post by: Duck on Wednesday 26 March 08 19:12 GMT (UK)
I have copies of both the 1810 & 1820 Census of the Catholic Congregation of Preston, basically theses are records of all Catholics living in Preston in those years.

1810 Census contains names, some ages, some relationships ( Mother, Father, Son, Daughter etc) and some abbreviated addresses which I will have to try and work out.

1820 Census contains names, ages and addresses

I am more than happy to do any look-ups

Hi,

I just wondered if you have any RUSHTON`s in the 1810 & 1820 Catholic Census for Preston?

My Rushton`s were just outside Preston in and around the Catforth and Woodplumpton area but some moved into Preston.

Thank you for the kind offer, hope you may be able to help!

Could you look for, please, a Thomas and Jane Smith in either of the two? They might have a son called John in the 1820 one. Thanks in advance.

Simon,
Thank you very much.  I did get your message and sent you are reply.  I guess forums are new to me and I am not doing something correctly.

I will answer again.  William's father was Peter Cummins spelled without the g.  Again Peter's name was spelled with a g.  Who knows!
Margaret Kenny's father was William.
William came from 44 Bow Lane and Margaret from 4 Bedford St.
When they married they lived on 11 Bedford ST.
We have never heard of Jane, but intend to find out if she is a missing sister.
William, born 1846, came to the USA in 1867 or 1868.  He settled in Philadelphia, Pa and a was a machinists.  Not sure of the date or ship.  It may be the City of Baltimore.
Peter, his brother, came to the USA in 1868 on the City of Boston.  He  settled with his brother in Philadelphia, Pa. I am  certain of this one.
They lived together for a time, married had 13 kids between them and the rest is history.
I do appreciate all you do.
Bill

Hi Simon,

When you have a moment, could you please check to see if you can find the following.

Jane Ainscow born Feb 1822 (parents possibly Joseph and Jane).  Ainscow could be spelled various ways, Ainscough, Ainsco, etc.

Also, said Joseph Ainscough/Ainscow and his wife, Jane Allsworth.

Edmond Barton and Ellen Barton (nee Dickinson) (they married in 1809 and had had 4 children by 1820.

Thanks heaps.

Hi Simon,

There is no rush for this at all, but I wonder if you could look to see if there are any of the ROSTHORN (ROSTRON, ROSTHERN) family in the censuses please?  My particular branch of the family were in Blackburn in the early 1800s, but think they may have originally come from the Preston area and I would be interested in any of that name who are listed.

Many thanks,

Maggie

Rostron Christopher,  No details
