I seem to have a couple of possible links with Buckley.  A Mary Ann Buckley married John Miley (b.1865 approx).  Also another Miley - Catherine or Kitty - had the Alphonso pub in manchester Street Oldham with Emanuel John Guest or Walter Morris.  I would be grateful for any information concerning either of these links.

Thanks

My great grandfather is William Buckley of oldham UK.  (mayor of Oldham 1917)   date of death- 1955 at age 71-- obit. says address was 12 Eskdale Ave. Oldham.  -
-married Annie Ashwood  (one wife died and remarried)
-

- names mentioned on an  obituary I have are Bikerdike and Whitehead.
Had 3 daughters..  Annie Josephine, my grandmother came to Canada and married Jack McInnis.   Ida never married.  The other sister Mary (May) Buckley married-- might have been a Bikerdike or Whitehead

-over 40 years was associated with Waterhead Church to which he gave a marble and alabaster pulpit

Hi - Forgive me, I am new to this.

I am Alan James Buuckley, I was born in Essex but my father Alan Skillbeck Buckley was born on 27 February 1927 (died 10 April 1968 aged just 42). He has a brother still alive.

His father was Frederick Skillbeck Buckley (my grandfather) who was one of six children. The other five were Adelaide, Audrey, Sonney, Law and Edward (Ted).

Their father was John Edward Buckley who died on 28 March 1934 and was buried at Saddleworth Church on 31 March 1934. I think John Edward had two sisters.

I believe that Law went to South Africa.

My Uncle is getting very old  (father's brother) and I need to get in touch with as many people who have a link to this family tree.

I'd really love to hear from anyone.

Cheers - Alan

Jethorp I hope you don't mind me posting a reply on here - I'm really not sure that the Buckley I'm looking for is related to your Buckley family, but I thought it would be worth a try posting here!

I'm trying to find out about my husband's paternal grandfather, Albert Henry Buckley.  We know he was born in around 1921, but do not know where.  His mother died either during childbirth, or when he was young, and has his father was unknown (his mother was unmarried) he entered into 'care' (probably more like a workhouse).  We think his mother's surname was Buckley but his father's surname was Merryweather - although this could of course be the other way around!

Our Albert died in 1967 at the age of 45, in Middlesex - that we do know for certain. We think Albert was an '8th Army dispatch rider' in North Africa during WW2.  After the war we know he lived in Monmouthshire with his partner, Nina Cookes, and had several children with her there.  They were not married however, which intrigues me given the social expectations during the 1950's.  There is a large gap in the information about them until 1967, which is when Albert died.  If you or anybody else has any information that may be useful please do not hesitate to contact me :-)

I'm on Ancestry.com and our Albert's 'profile' can be accessed via this link: http://trees.ancestry.co.uk/tree/58678521/family

Thanks :)

Hi All,

Looking for anyone with Arthur BUCKLEY (1889 Macclesfield – 1959 Stockport) wife Hannah MOBLEY (1890 Talke – 1959 Stockport) in their family tree.

Arthur's parents were Hugh James BUCKLEY and Annie Blanche BREEZE.  Arthur fell out with his family and so didn’t have any contact with them.

In my ex-wifes tree there is an Eliza Buckley married a James Hampshire in Perth Australia Nov 1840.

The Hampshires and Buckleys then spent the next few decades providing each other spouses after moving to South Australia

I have seen a note that George Buckley was Elizas father but haven't confirmed this. I have no indication (as yet) where this lot of Buckleys came from

Hi,

I've recently discovered that my paternal ancestors came from Saddleworth & I've found my gt.gt,gt  grandfather David Edwards on Censuses living in Lancashire & Cheshire. I've also found a lady I believe to be his sister named Amelia (Milly) Edwards who married Robert Halkerd (Halkard) in 1829 in Rochdale. I am how however struggling to find birth/baptism records for both Edwards. I have also discovered that Amelia & Robert had one son who they named Joseph Buckley Halkard so I'm wondering whether David & Amelia had the original surname of Buckley & perhaps were adopted by William Edwards who was a tailor. This name appears on David's wedding details & there was also a William Edwards living in Delph according to Baines's Directory and Gazetteer Directory of 1822.

Are you able to assist?

Kind regards,

Nick

Hi
I have Buckley's in my ancestry dating back to Sir Richard of Baron Hill Beaumaris Anglesy Wale and beyond, at the present time I am looking for the parents of Edmund Buckley birth about 1656 death about 1729 married to Dorcas Ogden in May 1685.
I would be very happy to hear from anyone if they have gone this far back and may be able to help with information.

Edmund Buckley, Yeoman of Deanshaw, is buried 2 October 1729 in Saddleworth

My apologies for this, but I'm a little confused as to how you think that Edmund Buckley, a Yeoman of Saddleworth, might be descended from/connected to Sir Richard Bulkeley/Buckley of Beaumaris 1606-1640.

At the moment I can't see any connection between Anglesey and the Lancashire/Yorkshire border.

I have a connection to nobility through Lady Mary Howard Married to my 7th Great Grandfather Edmund's son.
I know that it may seem a little hard for people to accept, however there is a Buckley direct link to Sir Richard but I can not find it until I have found Edmund's parents.  So please do not treat my request for your help as a wild goose chase as I can be very offended at people mocking my knowledge of my ancestral background especially when they don't know me.
My information came from my late father 2 years before he died and I have no reason to doubt a very loving kind and generous man knowledge of his ancestors.

You have had a number of others attempt to help you on 2x other threads.

We have proven that there are assumptions about links that need to be reviewed and (possibly) corrected. In the view of some of us, to now say that you "related to nobility" is (x) [ replace x with whatever ]

To continue to ignore someone who has spent their own cash obtaining a certificate for you, and you not positively acknowledging, that is frankly insulting ALL helpful Rootschatters.

To continue to tell Rootschatters that you have had contact with those who have passed on, via seances using mediums, is beyond belief.

In my belief, you owe big thanks ( and apologies ) to those who have helped in those previous threads, before you embark on new trails.

Regards
Ray

You really have some nerve the way you have insulted me beggars belief. Do not contact me again on this site as I will report you.

It also shows that the Buckley name originated from Buckley Hall.
