Title: R I C where to look for records
Post by: mallow on Tuesday 08 April 08 17:50 BST (UK)
Where does one look for records of RIC for years 1919-1921 is there a list  of names that can be looked up, could you enlist in England for service in ireland, and would you have gotten a pension at the end of service. Hope this can be understood Thank you :)

See

If your ancestor served in the Garda Síochána after 1922 you may have to contact them
http://www.garda.ie/

From memory, I think it's the archives department you would want.

I think your best bet is in contacting the PSNI museum and having a dig at Kew via the first link that pharmakon gave...The web and other contact details are there....Just scroll down!  ;)

Mallow if you Google The Royal Irish Constabulary you will come up with a good choice.

Well, based on what you've told us, the National Archives are where the records are!

The research guide is only a page long and seems to boil down to PMG 48 for pensions and HO 184 for records of service. If you can't visit Kew personally, someone will have to do it for you.
