Hi Lilybell
Here is a great one for 1861 as it gives you Jessie's parents. Don't know where James was in 1861 but he must be out there somewhere!
1861
Bellie, Moray
Huntly Street
Jessie Riach 23 b Bellie, daughter of Joseph and Margaret
Margaret A Riach 1, b Bellie, granddaughter
Elizabeth Wiseman 32 b Urquhart, Morayshire, domestic servant
Joseph Wiseman 67 b St Andrews, Morayshire, Day Labourer Stone Quarrier Looming 2 acres
Margaret Wiseman 66 b Bellie, wife of Joseph
Sometimes transcriptions don't make sense and I have no idea what looming 2 acres means.

Hi lilybell,
You might like to pass on my details to whomsoever you're helping. James Riach was the brother of my Gt Gt Grandfather Alexander Riach. They were of a family of 14 children. I was already aware that descendants of James Riach had gone to Canada. The Clara Lobban mentioned in the 1901 census married a Thomas Ritchie in Portage la Prairie in 1921. I am aware of her descendants by the names of; Conner, MacDonald, Altwater and Lamania.
James Riach was more than likely well known in Cullen being the man responsible for the building of the first train station there. I am interested in finding other Canadian relations as I've been told sometime ago that there were others out there, possibly descendants of James' son John Riach who married a Mable Spriggs.

Hello,
I am a descendant of Thomas Tulloch Ritchie, born 1887 in Scotland died 1934, Winnipeg Manitoba Canada.
He is a brother to my grandfather that the family lost contact with in early 1900. I am trying to fit some peices together. Do you have any infomation about Thomas and Clara? Did they have children?
Cheers!

Hi Prairie Lilly
Welcome to RootsChat :)
It might be worth putting this post up on the Canadian board here on RootsChat www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/board,166.0.html where the Canadian RootsChatter should hopefully be able to find Thomas and Clara in the Canadian census and records. The more information you can include the better. For example, did Thomas and Clara marry in the UK or over in Canada?
