Hi Carol,
do you know where Parke is in Mayo - or the area the family came from? Sorry if you have been here already :D
I looked at Irish Townlands http://www.thecore.com/seanruad/ - there are lots of places with 'park' in it but there are 2 Park townlands - Turlough Civil Parish and Kilbeagh Civil parish.
Then I looked at Griffiths Valuation (around 1850s so a bit early for your dates)
http://www.failteromhat.com/ for the two places. There are lots of McHales and Roches in Park, Turlough but none in Park, Kilbeagh.
1901 census http://www.leitrim-roscommon.com/
has a Roache entry for Park, Turlough - Edward 74 yrs with a son Thomas 24 yrs and daughter Sarah 20 yrs but no McHales. There are other Roche and McHale families in Turlough civil parish.
Then- should have gone here first really- I went to http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlmayo/records.htm
where there are some records from Parke Church, Turlough for the relevant years but not yours that I can see ???
However at least I now know where Parke is and if you didn't - you do too ;D I've been to the Museum of Country Life in Turlough Park so wonder if that is where it is?
http://www.geocities.com/heartland/acres/4031/RCPARISH.HTML shows that the records are on film and so you should be able to order them from a Local LDS centre. Broken Link
hope this helps and is of some use to you

Hi again,
I only posted last evening so no worries!
1901 has a Myles Roache/Roche 30 yrs with Sarah wife and Pat and Thomas sons. Lots of McHales there. Ballingarden, Turlough parish.
I am sure I saw another Miles Roache somewhere but he was 45 yrs and I can't see him now!
As your Thomas was born after civl registration began, you would fin his birth certificate and then a bit more info. I know you laready have the main details. You could work out a marriage from the oldest child's year of birth- often just within a year before that and check those parish records.
good luck

My Great grandmother was Roache from the Parke area. We still live here. There are many Roaches located in Treen, Derryhick and the surrounding areas.

Hello Reaney
My grandfather was Thomas Roache/ Roche born 1874 Balltheane Castlebar his parents Thomas and Helen nee McHale Children Miles, Nora, Bridget Henry and Mary. Thats all the info I have on them I think they had a farm and Bridget lived on it.
Best regards
Carol

Hi Cal
I don't think they are the same, I presume you meant Ballyheane rather than Balltheane.
This area is located roughly 4-6 miles outside Castlebar on the otherside, near the famous Ballintuber Abbey.

My dad's mom was from Derryhick, Parke Parish /Turlough. Name was Honor Roach, born in 1879 and died in Stoneham, Ma, USA in 1966. Her parents were Honor Michael (1841) and Thomas Roache. She has several brothers and a sister Myles (1867), Patrick(1869), Bridget (1872), Thomas (1874) and John (1883). I am pretty sure Thomas went to England and married Ann Turner, John stayed in Derryhick and married Ellen Murphy and my Nana went to USA. and married another Roche ( Michael from Cork). I have very little info on Patrick and Bridget. I see Patrick in the 1901 Census - living with his parents, Bridget and John. I see a 1911 census with a Patrick but rather than Pontoon, it is says Strade..Honor is living with him along with Kate ( no idea ) and Bridget. Dob is wrong for Bridget but she is the age of Kate - and I am wondering if that could be a mistake with the census. I also read somewhere that Myles was convicted of manslaughter (wife) in England. He was an innkeeper at the CastleArms in Kelloe...I can not tell if this is accurate - as i can;t find Myles going to England but I can find info that Thomas was at marriage and his parents names were Honor and Thomas - so I think that must be him. I did find a drunk and disorderly in 1905 near Derryhick of Myles ( but he should have been in England at time). Any help, I would appreciate. Thank You, Nancy

Hi. This is a very delayed response, but I wondered how your quest went. My grandmother is from Derryhick, Parke. She was borne in 1899 and is from a well established family there McHale, the youngest of many... the area has many relations and her home is still in the family.
If you would like to contact me you can all though you may already have finished your search by now.
