Title: McIntosh family

I have a copy of a christening of an ancestor,James McIntosh from a parish register for Petty Inverness. James was born on 20th April 1814 son of William,crofter at Muir of Breathly and Margaret(nee McIntosh).William and Margaret were married in Auldearn Nairn on 22nd June 1809.
I have no idea were Muir of Breathly was and can't find info on William and Margaret.
Can anyone help please.

I can't answer you question but suspect that someone at the Aberdeen and North East Scotland Family History Society ( ANESFHS) in Aberdeen will be able to. They are extremely helpful and have some real experts to help with tricky research.

Auldearn is a parish a few miles inland of Nairn town.

Hi, I think the place you're looking for could be 'Broadley' on the modern map.  Have a look here http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/oswebsite/freefun/didyouknow/.  Type Nairn in the search box and go a little bit south following the River Nairn.

It appears on the Roy Map as Bredly.  I'm not sure but Brethly might represent a Gaelic pronunciation of the d.

I can't find a Muir of Bredly/Broadley, though.
