Title: **ADVICE about image resolution**
Post by: cazza59 on Wednesday 22 August 07 10:15 BST (UK)
Hi All

Some of you may have noticed (JC for one being on the ball  ;) ) that I've put a note in my profile about scanning pics at 300 - 600 dpi.  I thought it might be a good idea if everyone did the same as it seems with each batch of new victims  :P :P er, postees  ;D ;D we are back to square one with the scanning issue.

Perhaps we could have a variety of messages as well, eg "Please refer to posting and scanning tuts at top of the board, before posting" or something similiar.

Anyway, just a suggestion.

Another good idea
Perhaps you could ask 'clients' who would like their pictures coloured if they could help by giving a
us a clue as to the colours they would like to see (or the colours being worn/hair etc) if they have preferences/ideas

;D ;D ;D always one to pay attention to details Caz!

I agree, and have also added the note to my profile.  Hopefully profiles are still read...

To Postees,  its for your benefit as well as our enjoyment to scan your pictures at a MINIMUM of 300dpi,  in return the restores will be of a higher quality and we will be more satisfied knowing that we have tried our best for you. I know, for me at least, I have attempted many, many restores only not to post as I'm not satisfied with the result. Its very disappointing especially for those of us still  with our  "L" plates on.

As one of your appreciative 'clients' I'd like to offer a suggestion.  Would it be more obvious and helpful if a heading re scanning were typed in BOLD CAPS and maybe even underlined or in different colour, as the last item of 'stickies'?

Kathleen

Hope you don't mind me adding my two cents' worth.   :)

Don't mind at all, all suggestions welcome.   ;D.  I presume you mean at the bottom of individual profiles as I have done...I'll give it a try.  I used caps hoping it would stand out but not sure if you can format.  Stay tuned.  ;D

Hi Caz,

I was thinking of making it an eye-catching notice as the last in the list of tutorials and maintained there.

It's definitely a good idea and I am sure everyone will do this.   For example, just imagine how much it would cost to get the things done with photographs that our experts do out of the goodness of their hearts.
The photograph restoration is the first thing I read when signing on!
Kind regards
Bev

Hi Kathleen

Sorry I misunderstood.  Yes, it would be a very good idea, the trick is though to get people to visit there before posting.  That's why I thought at the bottom of the profile was a good idea as while not many people read the top of the board before posting, I'm sure most view previously restored pics.  So if every restorer had it in their profile, you would see it a number of times per pic...(a bit like brainwashing  :P :P :P)

Well, I can do part of it for you  :)

I will now sticky this topic so that it does not disappear down the list.  I will also lock it (if you don't mind).

As far as the bold capitals is concerned - can't do that I'm afraid.  The main reason is that notification e-mails for any topic with a title in capitals tends to get bounced as spam.

But I'll try to make the topic noticeable.  ;)
