Civil registration of births in Ireland started in 1864 so there will be no birth certificate for Margaret.
Does marriage certificate give any details like names of her parents? What about her death certificate.

I have found a Robert Gilmour in the Scotland 1871 Census with the following people:

James B. Gilmour 3
Jane                     6
Margaret             26  Born Ireland  1845
Margaret               1
Mary                      3 months
Robert                  30
William

They were living in the County of Midlothian in 5 Watt Street in the Civil Parish of West Calder.

Hope this is your family.

thanks Pam
this looks like a possibility. My gt, Gt, Gt grandfather on my granny's side was William Gilmour born 1865, unfortunately, he's the only child without an age in your census!!!
The address looks good as my paternal grandfather was born in Watt St , Addiewell, in 1901(Robert B Fawcett)
Many thanks

Hello Avril,

I've a wee bit on your Gilmour/Barron's family, they touch my family so I did some research on them.  Your William born 1865 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, died 6th May 1927, at 58 Loganlea, West Calder.  He was married to Helen Wood born in West Calder abt 1859, and died there in 16th July, 1903, William and Helen had 10 children.   Robert and Margaret had 12 children.  Robert's parents were William Gilmour 1817-1870 and Margaret Thomson 1820-1899.  William's parents were Robert Gilmour and Isobel Main.

Margaret Barron's parents were James Barrons and Jane Hamilton born Ireland, Margaret died 1914 in West Calder.  I have most of the death certificates and census returns for the family.  I'm not sure how to send you my email address - new to this site.  But I'd be glad to help with anything that I have.

They are buried in Burngrange Cemetery in West Calder, I've seen some of the headstones, unfortunately I can't find them now that I'm looking for them.  I live locally so will be going to Burngrange at some point soon.

cheers ... Meg

I thought this is a chance to find the few possible locations in Ireland.  John
Grenham ‘s website started my search well, https://www.johngrenham.com giving several catholic marriages new records and he lists alternative spellings as  Barrens and Barrins
I then tried using one source Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837
to locate the possible place james Barrons might have come from
1.Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837 Part 1 in the 26 counties
http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/index.jsp
Barren has 53 entries
Barron has 243 entries
Barrin non entries
Barrens   Henry      Crumlin   Kilmore   Monaghan   1825
Barrens   Thomas   Denover   Moynalty   Meath   1827
Barrens   Thos      Denover   Moynalty   Meath   1827
Barrens   Thomas   Shanearn   Moynalty   Meath   1827
Barrens         Baltrasna   Moynalty   Meath   1827
Barrens   Patrick      Shelbagin   St James and Dunbrody   Wexford1833
Barrins    none

Barrons none listed
I had no idea I would find so many potential locations of relatives, it proves your need for any other clue.
One could repeat the same search for Jane Hamilton seeking all  Hamilton (Hamilton has fewer variant spellings in my experience). and finding the small chance of the surname being in the same parish, and not unknown the same townland! would be lucky and a priority location to home in on first.   However in2. Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837 Part 2 my index of the Irish Gemealogy Hub listing by parish see http://www.irishgenealogyhub.com/ has at least 780 entries just in the 6 counties
the almost single spelling variants are
Hamillton,Hamiltan, Hamilten, Hamitlon, Hamliton

So my conclusion is there are 753 entries for Hamilton in Tithe Applotment Books 1823-1837 Part 1 in the 26 counties. its a lot of work to sort 1500 entries back to county parish and even townland, that might produce nothing. so apologies over to you
best of Irish luck anyway
