This clown was Jewish/German and my mother-in-law, Ella, worked for him as his childrens' nanny between 1933/35. Ella remembers being out and about with him and getting caughtup in a crowded street as Hitler drove by - Mr Merne, I believe this was the clowns' name (see reverse of photo) hurriedly removed his jewellery as all saluted Hitler.
Identification is a bit of a long shot - I have already tried several web sites to no avail - but I'm an optimist, you never know we might strike lucky and a clean up would be great.

Oh, by the way I see your from my home town - my father had a gents hairdressers on the High Street and my Aunt (dad's sister) had a ladies hairdressing salon on Taylors Avenue.
