Title: Mystery Lady- dating please
Post by: Ayashi on Friday 22 August 08 16:07 BST (UK)
I really would like to know who this lady is... I have my fingers crossed that it is Ellen Harrison HINE or someone from that side of the family, but I don't know... I have two photos of her that I think are from the same approximate age... Can anyone tell me the approximate time in which she lived?

Thank you in advance...

Hello Ayashi
I think the first is around 1905 with the second slightly later about 1908-10.

Oh, I don't know... We've got some real ugly beggars in our family, lol (sorry, ancestors!) My nan, bless her heart, can do a face worse than sucking stale lemons.

Thank you so much! Do you think she is in her thirties or forties in those photos? I'm never good at judging age... That might give a dob between 1860-1975 ish...

Not much good at guessing ages, so don't quote me  ;) I think thirties.

Ellen was born 1866 as I recall, so it could be her. I'd so love it if it is. The man might be her husband, but I don't have any photos of him. Of course, more annoyingly, they could be photos of siblings of ancestors, in which case there are too many possibilities to shake a stick at!

Know the feeling...
I have a lovely photo of a lady and gent...
I'm pretty sure it's one of my Gran Sarah's sisters and her husband....but...well you know Victorian families, half a dozen girls to choose from....Might just stick a pin in the list one day and say...That's her! :D

At a family conference, it turned out to be Great Aunt Ethel, which is slightly disappointing, but at least I know who it is now. Mum said she knew who it was but when I asked her she didn't tell me that. She could have saved me a lot of embarrassment  >:(
