Title: French BMD Records, Nord Departement 1802 - 1892

This may be a bit of an obscure one to most people but if you happen to have ancestors who came from this area of France which includes Dunkirk & Lille then it may be of help.

The alphabetical indexes cover periods of 10 years and are specific to each town or commune (there is no national index to the French records) so you have to know more or less where your ancestors lived.

You don't actually need to know much french to navigate around the site but I'll be happy to provide some pointers if anyone needs any help.

The same site also has the 1906 census for the same area but there is no index so you'd have to have a lot of time on your hands if you wanted to find someone!

The link is:

http://www.archivesdepartementales.cg59.fr

and you then need to click on "Consulter les archives en ligne"

Bonne Chance!
