Title: Robert Taylor - Heywood - 1901
Post by: 47813 on Saturday 27 September 08 03:52 BST (UK)
Hello,

Trying to find any family of Robert Taylor (53) who is a Carter in Heywood in 1901
He should be living with at least his daughter Annie (Aged 16/17)

Just got Annie's 1904 marriage certifcate, which has armed me with alot more information then just her name which i had previously. Trouble however in wading through all the Taylor's to find the right lot.

Thanks

Jonathan

Sarah Alice SANDERSON was Born in the June Qtr of 1850 (ref: Rochdale 21 850)

I Looked for Roberts birth, there were (at least) 6 'Robert TAYLORs' born in Rochdale C1847-49.

Thankyou Pegasuss and Cazay!  ;D

Textbook stuff. I was getting a little peeved last night looking for Robert Taylor's birth because as you say there are many for that year and either side...

...But all your work has more then made up for that!

Sorry to take so long in repleying, computer's playing up

Thanks again

Jonathan

P.S. ------- I'm a little slow on the uptake  :), How can Sarah Alice in 1871 two years before she weds Robert Taylor live with a Mary Taylor who is listed as her Grandmother. Is it as simple as Taylor being common in Rochdale and its just a fluke that Sarah Alice married a Taylor?

re: Sarah Alice & Mary TAYLOR

Most likely that Mary is/was not closely related to Robert (But You never Know!).

I will look in to it (as best I can), via My Census Discs (1841-1901)

Thankyou once again Pegasuss  ;D

You must be a mind reader!, i was just coming on the internet to try and solve the Great-grandmother Taylor mystery.

Going to have to be extra careful now and not get my Taylor's mixed up!
This is a new one on me, lets hope i never find a lady with the same maiden name as marriaged one!

Jonathan

P.S. - Been looking for the birth of James Sanderson and low and be hold i get two at the same church within two years!
I'm leaning towards the elder of the two but you never can be sure.

They were both christened at the Wesleyen (excuse spelling) Methodist church in Shawforth, Rochdale:

James no.1 in 1830 - parents were Henry and Lydia

James No.2 in 1832 - Parents were John and Sarah

Theres only one way to solve this me thinks and that would be to try and find our James Sanderson on the 1841 census and see who his parents are...

...ruddy hell as i write that i realise my stupidness, i don't know how we are to figure out which of the two now 11 and 9 year old James' is ours.

Clutching at straws here!  ;D - Anyone got an opinion on which of the two James' is mine?

Thanks Again

I did a search of the 1841 Name Index, & found 3 'James SANDERSONs' (aged 9-11Yrs) listed as living in Rochdale.

Numbers 1 & 3 are:

Shawforth, Spotland, Rochdale, Lanc's

The other one, I could'nt find on My Census Discs?

But Here is the Info from the Name Index:

HO107/550-3, Folio 41 (I think Who ever Transcribed the Info for the Index got the Numbers Wrong?)

John   SANDERSON, 35Yrs old

Jane    SANDERSON, 12Yrs old
