Hi there everyone,
I'm new here-just today and was wondering if someone would be able to do me a HUGE favour.I have been trying to find the parents of a William ANDREW (abt 1862-1929),born in Renfrewshire I think. He married a Margaret McNab(1878-1945). I have 2 possiblities-but am not sure.1. William Andrew & Catherine Brown and 2.Daniel Andrew & Jane Provan.
I would be extremely grateful for any help on this as its stopping me go any further, and my penny jar is empty at the moment :'(.
Please help me. Thanking you and have a nice day.

Hi Phyl
Welcome to Rootschat :)

I've found their marriage cert on the Scotlands People site www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk
They married 17 Dec 1897 in Shettleston, Glasgow
His parents names are given as William Andrew, a farm labourer and Catherine, maiden surname Brown (deceased)
There are some good threads at the top of this board to help in doing Scottish research:

The Scotlands Peolpe site is excellent but is pay to view. You have to register and then you can buy in £6 blocks which are for 30 credits. This certificate can be viewed and downloaded for 6 credits (£1.20) . The IGI www.familysearch.org is also excellent for Scottish records.

I reckon the correct area is Ruchazie in Glasgow, not far from Easterhouse

Catherin McNab 26, b. Hogganfield, Lanarkshire
Mary McNab 5, b. Roughazie, Lanarkshire
Margret McNab 3, b. Roughazie, Lanarkshire
Hugh McNab 2, b. Gartcraig, Lanarkshire

Hi both :)
Before you go too far on the McNab root, it might be worth waiting for Phyll who might have done the McNabs. He/she was asking for info on the Andrew line so might be worth concentrating on that until we hear more :)
