Hi, can anyone help me find out about the parents of John Dixon born April 1900 in Darlington area. John Dixon later married Ruth Ludkin. Any help I would really appreciate as It seems to be a bit of a mystery. thanks Richard

Without being absolutely sure of the date & birthplace then there are too many to choose from.
What does the later marriage say about parent(s)?

hello, thanks for your help. I do not have access to the marriage cert. the DOB was 19/04/1900 in Darlington. I have been looking through FreeBMD but there are rather a lot of Dixon's in Durham. cheers Richard

Hello, thanks for your help. I have seen that but it doesn't tell me anything other than a reference. perhaps have to try GenesReunited. cheers Richard

To get the information you want you will have to use that reference number to send for the birth certificate.
Alternatively send for his marriage certificate which will at least give you his father's name.

Hello, thank you for your help I appreciate it, I have just got back off the phone passing on the info you have kindly found for me. apparently John Dixon's father was wounded in the south africa war and was taken to a military hospital and died and was buried in Karache when John was only a small boy.
later John Dixon when he fought in the first world war went to karache and saw his Fathers grave. is there any way I can research military records online?.
Thanks Richard
-
Does that mean you now have John's father's name?
-
Not at the moment because his son who is giving me this info does not know his grandfathers name who was killed and buried in Karache. thanks
-
So this would be the 2nd Boer war would it?
would his name have been published, maybe in the "Times"?

Hi there ,
i am unsure if this chat is still active , however i believe this John Dixon to be my great granddad. The revaluation of his wife being called Ruth Ludkin has cemented this. I would be very grateful if i could receive some more info on him. All i know is he served in WW1 and was underage at the time and died within the 60?
Thank you
Matt
